I don't think there are. But you should be rolling in cash anyways.

Boss Chests can contain +300 gold at higher levels and I think Dragons carry a good amount of gold. Some dungeons have boss room areas that have items valued above 300 gold in total.

There's a place called the Treasury House in Markath but I haven't tried to rob it yet. Maybe they have such a thing.

Nope, I have the game paused in the Treasury house right now; the safe is full of crap that isn't worth fencing (well, not for a higher level character anyway) aside from an Amulet of Kynareth (I collect the Divine's Amulets)

I saved up ~40,000 septims in less than a weeks worth of playing just by enchanting everything I loot and selling it. Every time I went into my house in riften I would empty all but like 100 septims into the chest. Still not sure what I'm ganna spend it on, probably my next house + upgrades, etc then go and waste the rest on booze and women at the local pub. :bunny:

Try doing the treasure hunter quests. Just an FYI: this is the wrong forum if you want exact info from spoilers. You should post this over at the other forum.

Gold should be easy as pie to get. I have the Riften House and just bought the Solitude House. I have made loads of cash enchanting items and selling them and looting dungeons. ATM I have about 100k in a chest at my house plus another 10k on me. This game is easier to get gold then Oblivion was IMO. Alchemy can make you rich too and I don't have a single perk point in it. I am still making 100 to 500 gold potions to sell.

Afaik, there's a perk at lockpicking which spawns more gold in chests.

You will get most of your cash threw gear you get from fallen enemies.
Or you will get Septims from selling alchemy potion, thats how I make most of my income.
You can get leveled loot in containers as well.
There is a perk that allows you to get more Septims in a container.

Not that's actually comparable to the lock's difficulty level, unfortunately.

Lock-vs-loot is something of a catch-22: if you scale the loot to the lock nobody would ever waste time with a non-door lock less than Expert as it wouldn't be worthwhile, but if you don't scale it then most locks above Apprentice tend to have contents not commensurate with the effort needed to pick the lock, making them the ones not worthwhile. The presence of leveled locks doesn't help either, since they rarely guard anything of value, which means that while one character cracks an Adept lock at level 8 another cracks that same lock set to Master at level 28, but both get much the same reward since the contents don't scale.

Well, Beth just needs to hire an economics professor.

Ease of getting gold largely depends on play style / character build due to what you can do with different characters (and what you can't, of course).

Here's an example: maxed enchanting skill characters want to enchant rings or necklaces, but the max value even with Grand Soul gems is a few hundred gold, even though the actual cost from venders is thousands. Note to Beth: no one is ever going to create something that they do not receive a profit from for the materials, cost of acquiring said materials, plus markup for living expenses. (sigh)

I think they need to take a look at Francesco's mod for Oblivion where loot can be customized by the player as well as randomized by locked container.
