So, are there new hairstyles?

Post » Tue Apr 19, 2011 6:52 pm

I obviously haven't been able to play yet and I'm curious as to whether there really is new hairstyles and facial hair? I'm a svcker for the customization in RPG's :hubbahubba:

I actually think there is one. It looks ... odd. Like.. a spike on the head. Its REALLY hard to describe.

But yeah, the charactor appearence is EXACTLY the same as FO3 otherwise.

If you're getting the game for PC, there's bound to be mods that add new ones.

I was kind of disappointed here actually. So far I've been really happy with all the new items and gameplay mechanics Obsidian has added, but I don't see why we didn't get ANY new hairstyles or facial hair.

Honestly I was disappointed in the facial hair in Fallout 3, too. Sure, there are a ton of choices but half of them are slight variations on a goatee, but when it comes to actual beards, stubble, or normal looking mustaches/sideburns we got practically nothing. I was really expecting to have some more options this time around.

To be honest, I wouldn't of minded some long hair or even a pony tail for men, and maybe a fully grown beard could be good at some point. :sadvaultboy:

Isn't the "survivalist" a fully grown beard ?

Bit disappointed because I really didn't care for most of the hair styles FO3 provided and was hoping for some improved ones. Just that most of them look like bad wigs and tacky stick on facial hair !

I was REALLY hoping they'd have more "longer" hair styles and also have some good sideburn options (I Mean come on, it's Vegas!) but nope....

Yeah, I was kind of shocked that there weren't ANY new hairstyles. Granted, at least you can actually see your character well during character creation this time at least.

Seriously? No new hairstyles? It isn't that hard to do is it?? Pretty stupid if you ask me but whatever I guess. Looks like I'll just be going buzzcut again...

Edit: I get the odd feeling there's going to be more facial hair options in future DLC. Just seems way too unbelievable that they did nothing for character customization as far as hair goes.

I believe there are new facial hair options in New Vegas. I have heard others say as much, and it does appear some NPCs are sporting facial hair I haven't seen before, but I can't be sure since my character is female.

And yeah, making new hairstyles wouldn't have been hard to do. I could make a new one in just a couple of hours, start to finish. It's not like they exhausted the possible styles in FO3. Oh, well. Once again, hair mods here we come.

Yea, But I mean like a full on beard from chin to chest, and as I said I would really have liked longer hair on men.

Does anyone know if we can still change the hair/beard we have like we could with the robot butler?

I second this, has anyone located a barber or a facial reconstruction surgeon?

I have not looked yet but there is a
Spoiler
Player house which can be upgraded like F3.Heres hoping a robot with a barber kit is part of the deal. And I assume if the feature is in the game, thats where its gonna be located.

Very minor albeit obvious spoiler up there. Its not a concrete location, just a good guess.

Give it a couple of days and once the archiveinvalidation problem is worked out, the stuff from FO3 will be ported over fairly quick. All of the base FO3 resources are there, so it's just a matter of getting it all working properly now.

Yea, it's a little disappointing to be honest :\ I mean, I like to explore in third person and normally end up in combat with first person or over-use of the VATS system, so I'd like to have better hair options is all. Not going to change for the console versions but hey, good work PC modders ;)

Aw hey mate, it's always a good feeling to find someone from the same country on these boards, especially a small place like Australia.

the hair mods for FO3 should work pretty much straight up - there may be clipping issues or such, but I see no reason why they won't otherwise. (Type3 body and textures was released for NV a few hours after it came out)

First thing I'm doing, before I even play the game, is try out Lings Coiffure in it. I NEED my hair/hat.

I claim hi five rights too!Your username came right out of Ireland for sure(for feckin sure).

As for the lack of new styles in the game...its very weird, but I would not trade any of the new content for a mooostasce.
