Are Word Wall Locations Supposed To Show As Cleared On Map?

The Word Walls on the dragon mounts and some other exterior locations can be shown as, 'Cleared' if you collected the boss-level reward chest items, or at least took a look at them. I think that is what triggers most dungeons and locations to being cleared.

Yes, but only if you killed the dragon there and learned the word of power.

I've learned the word of power at them before I started the MQ, so Dragons hadn't started spawning yet. I only fought Dragon Priests, Draugr, and Hargravens at the walls. None of them show as cleared.

You have to kill the boss there, which is supposed to be a dragon.
