Are you having gameplay issues?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 5:36 am

I would like to keep this thread as constructive as possible. Please answer in this format:

1. What platform do you play Skyrim on? (Xbox, PS3, PC)

2. Please give an estimate of your current time played. (20 hours, 50 hours, 100+ hours)

3. Are you experiencing gameplay issues? (lag, broken quests, missing items, graphical bugs) Explain.

Please save the opinions for another thread. I would only like to see hard data here please. Thank you.

1. I play on a PC
2. I've logged 53 hours
3. I've experienced some small issues (I haven't played since the newest patch came out).
During the "A Night to Remember" quest there wasn't any Holy water in the temple of Dibella to clean up as the Prima guide said there should be.
I did load a saved game after the 1.2 patch and summoned a flame atronach and was able to kill it with Firebolt spells.

Anyway, if anyone knows anything about that Holy water, please let me know.

1. PS3

2. Just hit 75 hours on main character.

3. I have just begun to experience some major lag issues in the open world. Prior to that nothing really major. I have a few quest items that I am sure are to quests I haven't picked up yet. My home in Whiterun is downright depressing. I cannot use my weapons racks and my bookshelf no longer works for me. Random corpses fall out of the sky at times, and there's still a troll club hovering 30 feet in the air near whiterun when the Companions killed it. That's just off the top of my head.

PC
75-100 hours

From the top of my head:
Jump broke for some reason, had to reload an old save. It wouldn't jump and it wouldnt sprint (wasnt in sneak)
Weapons sometimes get 'stuck' and refuse to swing/nock arrow
Got stuck mining in an animation loop
Shops randomly close dialogue clicking on menu options
Killed someone from a mountainside in a village with no witnesses and the guards on the other side of town were hostile
The greybeard quest where you had to demonstrate shout didnt work either. Kept hitting the ghost-guys but it refused to register.

Edit: Yes - CTD, forgot about that.

I think there's more but can't remember, old save reloads have happened a few times but I save like an absolute monster so I never lose much time, therefore its not that annoying. I'll edit in any bigger ones if I remember.

Note I've blocked the 1.2 patch, but I guess your could feasibly add those too. Also not really very far through the game (3 characters spread over that time), not run into the known 'problem' quests and such.

X-Box 360

Approx. 75 hours

Only minor bugs: Pre-patch there was some odd corpse behavior. I saw some dragon corpses do some wacky things, including teleport from their death location to the gates of Whiterun for no reason. Lydia's corpse teleported from the cave she died in near Solitude to the streets of Whiterun for no reason.

I did experience the texture bug when I installed it, but I promptly uninstalled it and didn't have the problem.

There's also a slight issue with the UI where when pulling up a menu, or pressing Start to enter the Journal / quest menu, it briefly locks up - it's technically not "locking up", as button commands still function, but I cannot scroll through the menu up, down, left, or right for a few seconds (for example - if I open up the Favorites menu, I can equip / unequip the selected item, but for a few seconds, I cannot scroll up or down to select a different item). This is by far the worst "bug" or whatever that I experience.

I will notice items in mid air, typically arrows that are shot and not picked up.

Very rarely there will be an instance where I "fall through" the world. I think I have had it happen twice.

And as a heavy conjurer, I do experience the Atronach Stone glitch, where casting a summon spell counts as an effect on me, thus the Atronach Stone ability kicks into gear and "absorbs" the effect. Normally it's not too big an issue, but there were a couple times where I had to constantly spam the spell to get it to work.

The first 2 issues seem to have been fixed post patch (the crazy dragon corpses are now gone, as well as Lydia's corpse, and playing installed, I don't notice the texture bug)

The UI delay glitch still happens.

The mid air items are still there.

The "fall through the world" bug was so rare I don't know if it still will happen to me post patch or not. And I did have one graphical glitch tonight when playing, I arrived at the College of Winterhold and there was a hold bunch of wonky graphical stuff going on. But loading into an interior, the graphics were back to normal when I returned outside. And the Atronach Stone glitch is still occurring.

Nothing major. Nothing game breaking. No broken questlines or missing items or anything of the like. Only "lag" I experience is when I cross "zones" and the game needs to load environment. I don't count that as "lag" or buggy. The UI glitch is kind of annoying, but it only takes up a few seconds of my time. The Atronach glitch has only been really frustrating once or twice.

PC
14 hours
Before the patch I would have the occasional CTD, usually in and around Whiterun. Once it got so bad that I couldn't exit the Halls of the Dead as the game would crash. I had to use the console to teleport out.

After patch (with new character) I have had no problems other than the things like resistances being turned off. Will post if I experience anything.

1. PC
2. 100+ Hours - Unsure of exact, play with Steam in offline mode.
3. Magical resistances bugged, interface bugs.

Interface bug: Unable to use the R key to pick up all items from a corpse or chest, and unable to use the R key to store items.

PC.

170 hours.

1. Skills changing and then resetting randomly;
2. Getting multiple 'special items' in quests;
3. Dragons that either fly off or pivot in place (pre-patch);
4. Freezes;
5. Total lockups;
6. CTD's;
7. Lydia sticking in place;
8. Sound track 'jamming';
9. The game bypassed the 'block auto-update' on Steam and is downloading the patch regardless;
10. Jerky freezing load/save game menu.
11. Splash/load up screen seems to have lost the colour spectrum, all the figures/statues/pictures etc are in a copper tone.

There's numerous others, but these are the main ones.

Plus I've had a couple of dragons where I didn't get the soul....even replaying the fight numerous times doesn't give me the soul...and throw in that sometimes 'words for shouts' don't unlock.

I play on pc
I've logged 106 hours
I have had three CTD's and experienced some fps problems in cities (Markarth and Riften mainly) probably due to the computer i'm playing on but the patch seems to have fixed that and now it's playing better than before

1: PC, no mods/third party things installed. Haven't updated to 1.02
2: Too afraid to check :ermm:
3: The first patch made the game unlaunchable to me. None of the official methods worked, so I had to find a rather unsafe solution. Other than that, I've had perhaps two CTDs and a few scripting errors that a quicksave/quickload fixed.

PC
126 Hours
Occasional minor bugs including around 20 CTDs, and teleporting ghost dragon bones in Solitude. and 2 significant issues:
- I had the Bonechill Passage crash which requires playing in windowed mode to get through. Rumor has it that a texture causes the CTD.
- The Forsworn Conspiracy required console commands to force proper behavior to allow the quest to continue.

1: Xbox 360

2: A long time. Not entirely sure, but within the 80+ hours range.

3: This is copied from my other post:

Last night, at my friend's house (first time playing on 360 offline), I went through and did some quests, nothing was wrong with the game. all was good in the world. I got home and went online and I noticed a small bit of lag any time my inventory screen went up; while enchanting, storing things in my house, equipping, alchemy, etc. Even using the quick equip screen. I dismissed it, thought it was no big deal, though quite weird. I went to sleep and woke up this morning, and immediately turned back to Skyrim. I downloaded the patch, and loaded my save game in Whiterun. This is where the big problems began. I was getting about 5-10 second lag delays any time I sold/bought/stored/recovered any item from shops or barrels/chests, and opening barrels/chests took about 5 seconds to load the contents. I dealt with it, all the while getting more and more infuriated with the need to wait to get my Quest on. I deleted a bunch of my old save files to see if clearing up data would help, but it didn't.

So I continued, and the load screens took a bit longer to go through; about 50% longer than usual. But I dealt with it, because I just wanted to keep playing. I did some quests for the Dark Brotherhood, and then went back and started on "Diplomatic Immunity." This is where I began to rage even harder. The item lag stayed about 5-10 seconds, but when I finished the quest and fast travelled back to Riverwood, the loading screen took about 5 minutes. Then when I went in the inn to meet with the contact to get my stuff back and finish the quest line, opening the door triggered a FORTY MINUTE LONG LOAD SCREEN. Needless to say, I was not impressed. then when I went to the chest to get my stuff back and pressed the button to empty the contents, it loaded for about twenty minutes, then froze (you can tell the difference because when you press the Xbox menu button, it makes a sound). So I tried again, and again, and again. Each time, same results, making the game unplayable for me at this time.

EDIT:

I tried clearing the cache, as some of the other users on here said to do, and I got the same results.
