Are You Serious Bethsedsa? I am so upset. (Framerate Droppag

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:26 am

First off I am happy I am no the not the only having these problems, for the last two days I thought that my brand new $2000 pc with quad core/ 12 g ram/ and a gtx 480 gpu was just a giant waste of time and money, so i am glad to see it is problems with the game and not my pc. On the other hand it does not change how upset and sad and betrayed i feel from bethsedsa, i have been waiting for new vegas for almost two years and i meet wellllll over the necesary system requiremens, and i read a constant 60 frames per second, yet i looks like 12 frams per second!!! I try to turn left and halfway through the turn It throws me back to frame 1 before i even started turning! The sky doesnt stay rendered all the time sometimes it completely cuts out. all animations slow down when i run. Its disgusting. I have tried so hard these past two days to sit down and somewhat enjoy this new 60 dollar game i have been waiting to play for years, but i simply cannot. It is unplayable. These patches better come soon or this is the last Bethsedsa published and obsidian made game i ever buy.

That doesn't fix all of the framerate dropping issues, just seems to be npc related

Ahhh, it pretty much does, it brings performance on par w/ Fallout 3. I am sure OP will be pleased once this fix is applied.

OK so I guess you don't get the random stutters that I (and a lot of other people) get just from looking around in addition to the terrible rates around NPCs. I have been playing Fallout 3 right up until I installed this, I know what to expect performance-wise and this is not it. I too did the dll fix and it helped out framerates around npcs immensely but this other problem I have remains. I'm happy for you that you get to play, I'm rather jealous actually, but just because you were lucky enough to have it fix your problems, don't expect that it solves everyone's.

I know, I was one of the early adopters and have been push others to use it all day. :) I simply replied in the wrong tab after viewing a screen shot.

Is it the microstutter? I read on guru3d that this will be addressed in the next nvidia driver (not an nvidia driver problem, but nvidia will provide a workaround where after the first couple micro stutters it will be fine). Or is it the streaming from ram stutter? Game with dll fix definitely runs like FO3 which microstuttered for me but was definitely quite smooth otherwise

I am very interested in trying out the "d3d9.dll fix" where would one find this file? and even when i do find it, where do i put it? because something ive noticed with games registered through steam is that you cant find the game directory or files anywhere on your hard drive, which i canno stand, its as if steam hides them from you. if you could help me out i would appreciate it so much, im looking for answers any where i just wanna play this game.

HELL YEAH! I first thought it was my 460 GTX but NOPE! Thanks Dev for ruining this so I lagged like a mofo the whole damn time.
This file works. You don't have to replace anything in that folder.

Windows 7 64bit. Works perfectly! These headshots are gonna be alot easier! =)

Okay so what exactly is so special about this 'fixed' d3d9.dll file that it makes performance better?

It's an "old" dx9 dll from you own PC to force some lag-causing extra to be disabled. I had 2 similar directory in my winsxs subdir, both started with x86_microsoft-windows-directx-direct3d9, and the older d3d9.dll helped when I copied into the same dir the FalloutNV.exe resides. So nothing needs to be downloaded.

The D3D9.dll files on your system won't fix the issue. The much smaller DLL from the download link is not an actual D3D library, it's just a card ID spoofer that tells the software you're running an older card (a GF 7900 to be specific). Your real, up to date D3D libraries are still being used to do the actual rendering work.

At least going by some pictures I have seen, this dll just makes the render less intense so overall you are getting smoother gameplay but at a slight visual decrease. It is still ridiculous when Fallout 3 ran fine that there are so many issues with New Vegas but that seems to be usual with Obsidian's track record of not really doing much testing or releasing buggy products. At least with Bethesda behind them, most of these issues will get fixed even if they have to do it themselves unlike the broken state Obsidian left Alpha Protocol in with no PC patches to fix the real problems.
