Seeing how 2K is forcing computer players to go through Steam for their games now, and seeing how Civilization V is such a huge disapointment, I am a bit worried that New Vegas might end up like Civ V. I am sort of releived that F:NV is also on console so it may not suffer the same effects like Civ V (CiV), but still, CiV was such a big disapointment, and we are looking so much anticipation for New Vegas, do you think we can be let down, or the people at Obsideon (how is it spelt?) are so much more competant then the guys at Firaxis.

I just can't believe how they released an incomplet product. First a PDF manual. They say they can update it so it will never be obosolet. Well it's obsolet and still outdated, so there goes the theory of a live manual. Things seem missing from the game. Bad and shoddy AI. Game seems slower and dumbed down.

So from what I see, F:NV dosn't seem to be like this. But all I see right now is, 2K and Steam for the PC version. Just like it was for CiV and how the 2K people raved on how great it was, but turned into a great disapointment that didn't live up to the hype.

Do you think F:NV well live up to the hype? I sure hope it does.

I don't really see what you're getting at. Are you saying that it might be crap because they started using Steam as a requirement? Or are you just concerned in general that it won't live up to the hype?

:shrug: Actually, I quite like Civ 5. If you ask me, Civ 4 was about as far as they could go in that direction. I kind of think of Civ 5 as the first game in a new line of Civ games - #6 will end up being notable as a refinement of #5.

But disregarding any of that - I don't particularly see how one relates to another? If you didn't like Civ 5 (a completely different game - and publisher - from Fallout: New Vegas,) I don't see much of a logical connection to being let down with NV. Sure, Steam is a common denominator - but (and, of course this is 100% subjective) there's plenty of rather high-quality games on Steam.

Before I can say anything reasonable, I'd first need to know why Civ V was a disappointment?

I'd have to agree. Civ has nothing to do with NV, (unless the disappointment is some sort of current developer's trend?)

2K and Civ V is not even related to FNV. And having Steam as the only commonality should have no bearing on the hype or success of FNV.

Sorry, I didn't explain myself well. My mom passed away a few days ago, trying to get my mind of it, thought I would come to the forums to read, since I don't feel like playing any games.

All I see is it's a 2K game, using Steam. Yes I know gameplay is totally different by 2 different companies, but still, just wondering if 2K is screwing everything up, I saw one of my games not living up to the hype, just curious that the same could happen to another game.

Well, first of all, I'm pretty sure that the publisher is Bethesda Softworks and not 2K Publishing. So wherever you got that from, you're badly informed. Secondly, Steam is pretty much the norm for virtually every new PC game that hits the shelves these days, so you're probably just gonna have to learn to deal with that.

Imagine buying and exercise pedometer that required you to be in wifi range at all times. (point being: The device purpose has nothing reliant on this demand). Also, (as has happened to me), you can't travel out of the city and bring any Steam games (as there is no Internet in most of those places); Morrowind's Disc check would not interfere, Steam does.

My mom passed away, I got my facts mixed up. The only connection I saw was 2K (wich now I know is not the publisher) and Steam. Now that I see this is not the case I am no longer worried.

This thread can be locked now since my error in facts has been corrected and now I no longer feel this way because Bethesda is the publisher now.

I found all Civ games to be dissappointing. Lulz they just aren't for me.

No1 said F: NV is going to be perfect. Once you start thinking: "F:NV is going to be the bestest RPG evvva" - then you'll be disappointed. Think in terms of some features you'll be looking forward to and you won't be disappointed.

Like I'm looking forward to gambling, weapon mods & bullets, and crafting. THose things are confirmed ingame, I'm sure they're done reasonably well, so I won't be disappointed.
