Armors and Enemies

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 12:02 am

Ok, so in Oblivion it was kinda strange that at some point everyone could run in Daedric, Glass etc. but... in Skyrim noone runs in those. Maybe I'm blind or something but I haven't seen any enemy wearing them. Now I heard it was made on purpose but... I think they over-did it? I can understand that only unique people should run in Daedric and Dragonplate/scale armor to be player exclusive. However I don't see why a leader of a bandit group can't wear a set of Ebony, Glass or Dwarven armor.

Any toughts?

PS. Does anyone know if there is a mod concerning this?

I have seen bandits in Steel Plate, which is better than dwarven/approximately Orcish.

the oblivion system was a huge fail, skyrim improved on that a lot

ebony, glass and similar high end items are supposed to be very rare and hard to come by which is why random bandits shouldnt have them

while i feel its still too easy to get the best armors via smithing its a huge relief not to see random [censored] bandits running around in them

I don't want every random bandit to have them. But I think there should be a small chance to encounter a Bandit leader with a gear that's actually on a lvl he can pose a challange to my pc.

yeah thats another flow on the leveling system, it basically makes everything dull because you know you can win anyway

The thieves than run up to you and demand money and stuff are always wearing Glass armor on my higher level main character, and I have run into a couple mercenaries who wear Ebony armor. I have not run into anyone wearing Daedric of Dragon

When I think about it I never considered Ebony or Glass to be rare. Dwarven yes, Daedric definitely but not those.

Nord, what lvl? I'm 49 and I think it's about time...

You will see Thalmor soldiers in Glass later on. Movarth will wear Glass if you go to his lair at a higher level.

In one of the huge Dwemer ruins one of the humanoid NPCs wore Dwarven armor - IIRC he actually wore a full set with a shield. :o

I've seen bandits (or some hostile NPCs) in Orcish and Ebony pieces, but not full sets. I believe the one Orc Chief for the Daedric quest wears a full set.

The dremora at the Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon wear Daedric, but it must be ethereal because you can't loot it.

I have yet to see any NPCs wear Dragon stuff though. :P

I like it this way. I have seen roaming mercenaries in level appropriate armor, which is also great. Finding very rare daedric or dragon armor as loot is a source of ongoing fun for me, since I use smithing only for improvements. When a character gets too powerful, I find it’s easier to tweak the character downward than it would be to adjust the whole world.
