Armour strenghts

Hi folks, new to the forum so apologies if this has already come up.
I'm level 71, always used light armour, currently Dragonskin, legendary. Strength, something over 800 with enchantments etc. Because of time it now takes to level up I thought I'd make myself some Deadric stuff so that I could use the Heavy Armour skill increases, and, with enchantment and smithing, this shows at about 350. I expected the Daedric armour to be in excess of the Dragonskin stuff so why is it only about half as strong? Is it because the Dragonskin armour has been increasing over the last 30 or so levels? Can I get it up to higher than the Dragonskin by using my remaining perks to unlock all the Heavy Armour skills? Have unlocked all the Light Armour perks but none of the Heavy stuff yet.

There's your answer. The perks are strengthening your light armor, but since you haven't developed your heavy armor skill, it's rather lacking compared to light armor.

Don't bother putting perks into both armors though, it really isn't a good idea.

Also, armor cap is 567, meaning that extra 233+ armor points are doing absolutely nothing, and there's no reason to try and get your Heavy Armor to have that high of a rating by spending perk points.

It's really 667, but you get a +25 per piece of armor you're wearing, which isn't displayed. Meaning if you're wearing a hood, you need 592 to hit the cap. Or if you're ONLY wearing a pair of boots you need 642 AR to be at the cap.

It's a minor technicality of course, unless you like to be at the cap, and wear a hood.
