ARRRGGHHH I can never stick with one character!

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 8:35 am

Every other TES I made one character and stuck with him until maybe a couple years later. I am now about to start my ninth one in Skyrim.

I get between level 30-40 and I feel like re-rolling.

How many of you keep multiple characters? Do you find it challenging to go back and forth between them?

Its the opposite for me. I usually don't like having more than 5 different characters. :sadvaultboy:

I sort of develop my character's personality as the game progresses, shes been both cold hearted evil, and a knight in shining armor. Her development pretty much mirrors what I feel like playing at the time, and right now I just left all my items/gold at home and started a fresh life as a hunter.

Why dont you play as a person that is broke. Always drop all your money and only get items by stealing. I'm sure that could keep your attention.

lol me too... i normally plan my character but i found that adding some character progression throughout is fun too... the character i'm currently playing started off a a remorseless assassin too and i'm thinking of making her pay for her crimes by trying to do some good but then i wouldn't be able to let her become a vampire in dawnguard... :|

To the OP: I find that playing a jack-of-all-trades character seems to make you want to stick with him/her because... You have access to more skills? If playing character archetypes isn't for you, try making one that specialises in more skills?
Also, if you're on PC (console gamers apparently will be able to do it too in Dawnguard), try changing appearance (nothing too significant... eg. warpaint, hair etc) every now and then... :) Hope that helps!

I had a bad start with skyrim tbh, You see my first character was to be a paladin, Heavy armor with healing spells ect, The build was fine but there was no noble quests in skyrim, It was either stealing, Doing evil quests ect. I was happy with the companions till I find out they are werewolves so my paladin couldnt even cotinue that faction lol.

The only fighters faction in skyrim are abunch of evil werewolves. Idc what ppl say, They attacked the silverhand first so they are the evil faction killing humans who are trying to make skyrim a safer place.

To my knowledge.. The silver hand are a evil band of bandits under false claims. They attacked the companions first.

I restart a lot too, I also feel the need to start a new character for every patch... just because that is the best way to solve the bugs you may have.

The Silver Hand appears to be a bandit faction with blood grudge with the Companions, but they're far from good people. Sneak up on them and they talk about paying their bounties, killing people they don't like, stealing, and other morally unsound deeds. They'll attack you on sight even if you aren't a Companion. It's a mistake to view them as the good guys.

I've made at least 15 characters (In only about 200 hours of play, I spend most of my time modding it), and only one has gotten past level 20.

I do the exact same thing in minecraft. I can't play for more than 5-10 hours without wanting to restart. I'm not bored. I don't hate it and want to restart. I just want to experience it again in a different way. Be in a new place. Make new decisions or explore in a different direction.

I haven't done at least half the stuff in Skyrim. I just never get there. :P

I don't know how you people do it. I've tried starting new ones, but always give up and go straight back to my original character, which is nearly level 58 now. If I ever complete the main quests with this Redguard I might go back to the start again though...try a more specialist character.

Hehe, I'm the complete opposite, I've only got one character (about 250+ hours), and don't plan on making another. Not sure why, but I've been like that in every game I've owned.

(SPOILER FOR COMPANION QUEST)if you need to throw a witch head in the fire so kodlak can be normal kill his spirit then after that throw another one in it (then you need to kill you own spirit) you wont be a werewolf after you killed your spirit! :)

I have/had the same problem. I must have made like 50 "Itan-Ru's" about now. You just have to really think about what kind of character you want to play.

My thought process was, "I really like Argonians, and I know I won't be able to stick with a character who isn't one."

"I like Archery, Restoration Magic, and Alteration Magic.. Swords are fun too." So I decided to incorporate these into my build.

"I HATE heavy armor". So I wore light.

And so far, I'm extremely satisfied with this character.

Also it doesn't hurt that I played about a thousand different types of builds first.

I have altitus in MMO's but I don't with SP's. So its a little odd that I have it with Skyrim. Toss in that I like to tinker with my PC a lot and I often end up reinstalling, well, everything. About to reroll again I think.

I'm still playing the character I made on Christmas morning when I first booted up the game. That was 332 gaming hours ago.
Don't try to make a "build" as everyone around here calls it. Just play and let your character be who he wants to be. Live with your mistakes.

i think i made the right choice when i went for 100% completion on my first character. that way i never felt like i was missing anything when i rerolled and was able to stick to my original roleplaying intentions on the secondary characters

Constant restarting is my bane with mmorpgs. I'll keep restarting and never get to do the end-game stuff because I'm always playing catch-up with the other high level members of the guild.

With Skyrim, I've had a few restarts, but I keep making the same character. With my current Nord, I don't see myself stopping to start a new character until he's completely maxed out and there's absolutely nothing else to do in the game. I just like to keep moving foward, and not constantly replaying the same content over and over again when I start a new character. With all of my rpgs, I like the characters who are flexible and can perform a variety of roles. I think that it's this flexibility with my Nord that keeps me from restarting, since I can change things up and don't get bored with him.
