Article - No new news, but good read

Found a new article. Nothing new info-wise here, but it was a fun read and pretty much summed up some of the big reasons I'm so damned excited for P2

I think a lot of people could agree with that article. He brings up an interesting note, that a lot of older scifi games he played were terrible but still memorable becuase of what they could have been. I feel the same way about a lot of older scifi games. One that stands out the most for me is Advent Rising an old original Xbox game. If that game had been done with cutting edge graphics and gameplay mechanics and had been given the budget and time to develop as other huge hits at the time, then there is no doubt in my mind that it could have rivaled or even superseded Halo's epicness. To bad Advent Rising was plagued with production problems, cut backs, and a budget that makes you amazed that the game was even released at all! The original site for the game has been taken down but it was "adventtrilogy" because they were actually planing to make 2 more sequals to it. I wish they would remake this game with todays engines. I think it would be a huge hit if done right. The soundtrack though is fantastic and actually does rival or supersede many soundtracks of games at that time and even could compete with todays game scores.

I remember Advent Rising! I think I still have it lying around somewhere at my grandfathers house (used to play all my games there back in the day). The story and gameplay were amazing, and the vocie acting was actually decent, which was rare for games back then.
I remember getting so excited when I found out it was supposed to be a trilogy, and so dissapointed when it didn't happen. The sci-fi gaming genre would definately be a different place.
The part where you had to chose to save your brother or girlfriend, then end up having to watch the other drown? Probably one of the first times a game made me feel sad

Yeah I was really bummed out when it went dead, I love how the toggle between 1st person and 3rd was available and so smooth too. To bad the graphics and mechanics are really bad in certain aspects. But just the characters, feel of the world, and story is what made me love it despite it's obvious drawbacks. The powers in 1st person are fun as heck to watch and use. Ugh so many scifi games that could have been beyond epic and are now just forgotten. Advenr Rising will always remain in the the top 5 of my remake wish list.

That guy feels the same way I do lol I want Prey 2 badly. There hasn't been anything new in a long time. I'm afraid it's gonna get pushed back.
