articles on fallout bugs

So, the more I search for solutions to some of the bugs, the more posts and articles I find that are starting to hightlight them. Here are a few. If you find more, post them.

Best of all... PCWorld simply gathered all other links for you, describing Fallout NV as one of the glitchiest games of the decade. Enjoy.

A big thumbs up to Justin McElroy for the following comment:

“How could I hope to evaluate the worth of Fallout: New Vegas, a full-price game that’s practically identical, both graphically and mechanically, to another game that was released two years ago? How could I tell you whether or not it’s an insult that you’re being asked to pay $60 for a game that’s so technically deficient that it scarcely feels past the beta stage?”

Fallout new vegas was a step in the right direction - but the game was released in such poor condition that even with the latest 2 patches - there are still many annoying bugs to deal with. Let alone the problem with stuttering (.dll work around by fans - not the developers) that many are having.

It remains to be seen whether the remaining Performance, Graphic Clipping, and remaining script bugs will be fixed.

It is said that one should never release a wine before its time. I think this concept should also apply towards the fallout game series.

what i dont get is: its basically the same engine as fallout 3 which was patched up in the past. shouldnt the game be running smoother now instead of worse?

To this I say, Left 4Dead 2 anyone? Not all new games are required to be graphically superior to the game that came before. It should be based on content of the game. Story, playability, etc. Not that it looks the same. Fallout 2 looks like Fallout 1. Descent 2 looks like Descent 1. Gears of War looks like DoW2... yeah, anyhoo...

Yep. L4D2. One of the smoothest running and stable games ever.

Stable or not, its still a rehash of L4D. Just like NV is a rehash of F3. My point is just because a game looks the same graphically, doesn't make it a bad game.

Received the collector's edition today, I'm about two hours into the game and already it has crashed ("fallout.exe has stopped working" and booted back to desktop) three times. It even crashed once when I was still tweaking my character's look. Terrible way to start!!

On the bright side, I haven't had any (graphical) performance issues yet, it runs super smooth on my 3 year old pc on High settings (vsync off).

My guess is that simple scripting errors in quests can crash the game, no matter how bug-free the engine itself is. With all those complicated quests and factions, I'm not surprised there are situations/gamestates the programmers didn't think of. But it's the job of the QA testers to find those situations.... The fact that they didn't proves the game was rushed.

tbh, when FO3 was just released, it's engine was miles ahead of the games it was competing against.. the engine is now "up to par" with the rest.

Expect FO4 to give us a big old "jawdropping slap in tha faice" with the upgraded graphics.

Many textures in FO3 are ridiculously low-res compared to games of it's time. FO:NV is no different, and the lighting looks so flat and unrealistic at night, but still... I love the general look of the game. (especially the terrain at sunset).

i think fans of fallout love the game now for the graphic, so its not that big of a problem, and i think they did a great job keeping the same atmosphere of fallout in new vegas, but the problem is the bugs, glitches, crashes and freezes, i dunno wheather it was early release problem or just lack of testing, but they deffinately screwed up on this... it feels like if game creators thought they are so-o-o good at it that the game is perfect and they don't need to test much... i hope they will be able to fix everything because as much as i'm a fan of fallout, i was ready to bring the game back to the store when i first wasn't able to proceed with one of the quests because of the bug/freeze

I'm kinda feeling the same as Eugene. I really like the core of the game (the idea, story, setting etc) .. but yeah .. these constant bugs that show a terrible lack of thorough testing is frankly inexcusable and pathetic. While I can understand how certain issues arise I can't help feeling cheated out of what I hoped would be a quality game .. please do something about it before I decide not to buy a Fallout game ever again!

Couldnt agree more. I am one of the Fallout series biggest fans and this really has ruined it. My wife picked up Fallout 3 and loved it and couldnt wait for Fallout:NV, it took about 2 days for the bugs to frustrate her to the point of putting it down and she hasnt played since.

Look, this is a beta product. Vote with your wallet, dont buy Bethesda products anymore: I know I won't.

I'm suprised this thread hasn't been deleted by now actually, there are definitely negative posts about FNV poofing out of existence lately.

How are we supposed to even help Obsidian help themselves? My biggest beef with the game now is the sheer volume in crashes (50 hours of play and I've had about 40-50 crashes to desktop)

I can't even send them an email and say "I was doing _______ when I crashed to desktop with an error message of _______________".

It's always a FalloutNV.exe related crash with no details. Nothing about memory locations, read issues or what have you. There's nothing we can do to help out here.

Emailing them and saying "There's a bug in your game that crashed it" (because we have no further information) is like saying to a Policeman "There's a crime in the county, go stop it.". Without crucial information, there's no way to even work towards resolving the issue.

Because it is already posted by the OP in another section. That is against the forum rules.
