Ash pile, I curse thee!

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 4:03 pm

So, I finally figured out where the last stone for No Stone Unturned is located. It's underneath an ash pile, so I can't get to it. The dungeon has reset several times, so it's definitely there to stay. It was an NPC that a necromancer reanimated.

Is there any way to deal with this issue without a console command? I'm on the 360.

Try to Fus-Ro-Dah or cast spells on the pile, or telekinesis. Might get it out of the pile.

But i shouldn't have told you this because you play on the Xbox! :)

I've tried Unrelenting Force, Telekinesis, Fireball, Thunderbolt, Blizzard, Fire Storm and every other thing I can think of! :P

Are you on PC? If you are, you can use the console and you can try either clicking on the ash pile to disable it, or the no-clip command.

Edit: dur, nevermind, I can't read :(

He already said he was on a Xbox :)

Well if you tried all of those i don't know what else you can do , by the way are you sure it is there? maybe you can try and send a follower of yours to try and fetch if for you.

I can see it right there, but it won't target it to pick it up. I'll go get someone to bring back here to try the follower tactic, though...

Bah! It won't let me target it for a follower, either.

Which dungeon was this? I havn't collected all the stones yet and I would like to know so I can use muffle+snaeak+invisibility to sneak attack the necros to avoid this.

Well, I guess you could get one of the many shovels in the game and dig yourself a new ash hole . . .

Sheogorath, I apologize for that joke, and be with the starvin' Falmer down there in their ruins. Amen.

@Unokitsune:
It was in Sunderstone Gorge.

@Underm1nd:
You can't pick up or shift the ash piles.

In Oblivion, you could click on some things in third person view that you couldn't in first person view. I'm not sure if that carried over, but maybe it's worth a shot.

In Oblivion you could also loot crates and any color barrel on top of have an easier time manipulating something that u grabbed using the grab option. Also in Oblvion when you used Telekenisis you could send things farther away from you not just towards you. Unfortunatly this hasn't carried over.

And how are u supposed to move ash anyways? Too bad the broom and shovel are useless.

Also in Oblivion almost everything was grab-able. you can't even grab a fork or spoon to maneveur it.

is reloading a previous save not an option and trying the dungeon again? This is why I always create a save file before going in after any quest related items makes reloading over a bug easy.

That ash pile has been there for way too long for a reloaded save. I cleared that dungeon before I started looking for the stones in earnest.

Have you tried waiting until the dungeon resets? It usually takes around 30 days being OUTSIDE of the cell of the dungeon itself. That means being far away from the dungeon for at the very least of 30 days. So stay across the map and wait 30 days and come back?

The guys inside of it have respawned at least 3 times now...I assume that's what you're referring to?

ash piles are bugged and dont reset right now, so just hold off until it get fixed in January (hopefully) The stone will still be there. Just save before going in after it to prevent another possible ash pile from happening.
