Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 6:29 pm

yeah basically... i was given assassin's creed as a gift last christmas, and ive tried, really I have to get into the game but I just can't seem to. i love the idea of it, the time period, the assassinations, i just feel like its not very well done and I do not like the whole.. menu? setup. i was just wondering if im the only one who was left wanting or could not get deeply into AC

I couldn't get into it, either. Got half way through the first one, rented the second and got maybe 1/4 of the way in, played some MP, and never touched it again. Not getting Revelations.

If it's the first game you are talking about, then I agree it is not very good. It would behoove you to play the second one, as it improves upon the first one greatly. I quite disliked the first, and absolutely loved the second one.

I've tried to like Assassin's Creed many times, but ended up hating it more and more with each try. However, one day Assassin's Creed 2 was on sale on Steam and a friend convinced me to get it. Turned out to be leaps and bounds beyond the first game, at least for me personally. If you can get past the ridiculous conspiracy theory storyline, the gameplay is very fun, and it has a really awesome immersive setting. Give it a go.

EDIT: ska8tdude, great minds think alike! :hehe:

If you're talking about the original AC, then you are not alone. It was widely criticized for being extremely repetitive, and (for some) having wonky combat. It was praised however, as you've noted, for it's unique setting and free-running mechanics.

I know it's your opinion, but why? AC2 was what AC was but it upgraded everything from the first game. The missions and main quest was less repetitive and it added a lot more. Such as new weapons, dyes, etc.

Only played Assassin's Creed 2, when it's said that it started to get good...and frankly, did not see what the big deal behind it was. I found it to be incredibly boring, with repetitive missions, worthless upgrades, terrible enemy AI, and by far one of the absolute worst combat systems I even had the displeasure of playing. If I could describe Assassin's Creed briefly, it would be like Grand Theft Auto if the only vehicle available in the entire game was a http://gta.wikia.com/Manana.

I got the first one as a gift near its release date and hated it. Bought the other two a few months ago and loved them.

I felt that each game was an improvement.

AC1 was pretty boring and repetitive. AC2 and Brotherhood on the other hand is awesome.

The first left a bad taste in my mouth and I lost all interest once they started pumping out enough sequels to make Tetsuya Nomura jealous. It had an interesting premise though, so I might look into it once it's all been wrapped up.

I enjoyed 1 & 2, if they gave Altiar more character and cut back on how repetitive it was, then I might have enjoyed it more.

I didn't finnish Brotherhood but it seemed fun at the time. Not sure about Revelations, Im just tired of Ezio. but Assassin's Creed III will hopefully be good. (if they can build off the good things from all the other games and add much more new stuff)

The story of AC1 just caught my attention more and I like the thought they put into the (unbelievably long) cutscenes. AC2 just ruined all of it for me with its ending, and the fact that everyone in the worlds history is either an assassin or a templar.

I like the series. Even the repetitive first one. I actually didn't realize that it was repetitive until someone pointed it out. Maybe it's because I did other things between the assassinations. I still like the game, but I can see where people came up with that complaint.

Indeed :D, that's exactly how I feel about the series, especially the story part.

Completely overrated and the quality will dip with Ubisoft borrowing Activisions business model.

I liked the first Assassins Creed when I first played it because it was so different from anything else I've played. Now that I've played two and Brotherhood I know that I will never play the first one ever again, they are both near-perfect games.

Borrowed the second off a friend. I played it for about half an hour before shutting it off and playing Hitman instead. I don't think I even really got past the intro missions, but I was so turned off by the free running element that I don't think the later ones really could have saved the experience. Maybe I was expecting something more like Mirror's Edge, I don't know. I just found it incredibly imprecise, and the fact that it was all controlled by a single button really didn't help.

I enjoyed Brotherhood, but other than that I don't like the series all to much. Not getting Revelations either.

I played two of them and they're ok for a bit but I couldn't really get into them. The thing that puts me off most is that you're not actually playing as the assassin, you're playing this other guy in a virtual reality time machine simulator thingie. I mean what's fun about that?
