Assassin-like NPCs

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 12:13 am

I am looking for a Dark Brotherhood wife. Yeah. Mjoll is really a good companion as a Wife, and Aeris is on my black list to be killed. And she.. will.. kill.. The problem is: She does never sneak. Even when sneaking! :S

Is there any NPC that acts like an Assassin? Sneaking and daggering everybody?
Or even better: Anyone knows how to create this behavior on a NPC at all? Via console.

Aela. She is a good sneaky archer who is not opposed to grabbing a great axe and crushing fools when appropriate.

I've tried her. Really. In my previous save she was my character's wife. If you order her to attack something while sneaking.. she walking towards the enemy with a bow or dagger and suddenly STANDS and starts to attack. No sneaking at all.

And she does not commit any murderings. Mjoll does. That makes me happy. I send her to kill my DB foes.

I don't think any follower will sneak attack if that's what your want.

Jenassa, The Drunken Huntsman in Whiterun.

She won't actually stealth kill people but she has a high sneak skill if I remember right.

I'm not sure I'm clear on the question? (I apologize, just reread all the way back)

Yes, there are assassin npc's - they're really lame assassins hired by the Dark Brotherhood when a contract gets taken out on you because you're not really worth the Dark Brotherhood's attention but they've already been paid to off you. They appear off and on for awhile up to about level 30ish and have never killed me on either of the characters they were being sent to kill.

the closest to a companion who is also an assassin is the thieves guild chain and you don't get to keep her... though I do have to admit that it's an incredibly secsy thing to zoom the camera back and watch three sneaky thieves make their way through a dungeon, so unlikely and awesome that it's worth the moment of awe looking at it... enough of the spoilers... I haven't found a companion whose job it is to be a thief or assassin so I've never had a companion sneak in combat, they always stand up and/or charge in to fight and often audible at really inopportune times. Even the "sneaky" ones in the thieves quest trigger traps and create bedlam.

Aela is the only sneaky marriageable without a console command wife I'd be able to recommend.

Aela is almost great. Yah. But can't unmarry now. :P

And a companion sneaking or simply AVOIDING traps would be lovely.
But they always want to make sure the trap is working and I get owned by flying rocks or spiked doors often because of their Itch to test traps.

I loved the voice acting for the Cicero's character. But I hated the Design of the Character.. and.. Hate the way they did it with the porpuse of beeing ANNOYING! And.. Cicero does backstabs?? I can't marry with him... And don't want to.

It's lovely to see killmoves.

Well when it comes to armor etc you can always equip him with different stuff (ebony mail for example is an excellent armor).
Actually none of the companions can do backstabs last I remember. I believe this is due to the lack of capability of the NPC AI to do something as complicated as sneak up on another NPC from behind unscripted. Killmove cams though (at least for followers) are completely random due to the nature of the combat system in Skyrim. Not to mention its extremely difficult to inflict enough damage to have a 1-shot execution kill unless you have the right perks and gear. Only a very few companions have perks.
Also you don't have to marry your companion you can always have your significant other staying at home while you and your companion runs around killing everything.

My idea is carrying a wife-killer. That's the point. And without backstab that gets boring. Many times I send the companion to kill a single target and unoticed. But, unfortunately, they don't backstab. Maybe, further when the CK comes, I'll do something about it. Who knows. A backstab-npc would be all I need.

Arh.. and NPCs avoiding traps. xD

I'm trying to manually add perks in NPCs. Does that works for anyone?

Who knows it might work. I wouldn't put my hopes up though. The chances of a NPC to sneak up and execute another NPC is extremely low.
Also I highly doubt a mod will be able to address this issue simply because its not a game issue its something missing entirely from the AI. Im no expert but I am pretty sure coding in advanced behavior like that into an AI that is the intellectual property of someone else is not only extremely difficult but illegal as well.

Beeing difficult is the problem. Illegal it can't be since we're doing things trough the Creation Kit.

Maybe we can script things. In oblivion there was companions mods all made by scripting. It may work in skyrim, since it's a "fresh" game and the gaming programming has evolved.

To me, it has also been VERY disappointing that there are so few "appropriate" companions for my favorite thief-char. -I have even tried all kinds of things to see if any of the Thieves' Guild people could become followers after finishing the quest line, but no... They just stand around down in the Ratway and do nothing. -And Brynjolf, my favorite char of all times (I love that guy...) keeps telling me "Sorry lass, I got important things to do - we'll speak another time".... And then he goes on with his mindless wandering around *cries*

Why can't we marry any of those guys? I mean, most all the Companions become followers and potential husbands and wives after finishing their quests - why not the Guild people? :S That would have solved the severe lack of thief-types to marry or follow you around, imho.

He is the best one yet in my opinion he stays behind you only rushes when they rush for you and he doesn't have much to say!!! I hated all the others he is my fav!
