Hello beth forums...been a while. I need a bit of help in my sociology class. I need people to answer a survey on the opinion of Cross six friendships. The survey will be completely anonymous, as you will give me your answers through the PM system.

You are to give your age range, from 18-25, 26-35, 36-45, or 46+ you should also give your relationship status, whether single, married, or other(explain).

There will be 3 qualitative questions. You will give a text response to these. There are also 7 quantitative questions, these you will answer on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being strongly agree and 10 being strongly disagree. It would also be good if you gave some reactions to each of these questions in the PM.

Here it is.

Qualitative questions.

1. How would you define "Cross six Friendships"?

2. How Would you feel if a significant other developed a friendship with a member of the opposite six?

3. Why do you think people seek friendships with the opposite six?

Quantitative questions.(remember to answer these on a scale of 1-10, one being strongly agree and ten being strongly disagree.)

4. It is okay for my significant other to have cross six friendships.

5. Men's expectations are different in a cross six friendship than women's.

6. Befriending a member of the opposite six may cause jealousy within a person's romantic life.

7. Men and women can be friends with no romantic attraction.

8. People tend to believe that cross six friends are intimately involved with one another.

9. I would be more likely to share a problem with a friend of the opposite six.

10. sixual orientation plays a role in the acceptance of cross six friendships.

thanks for those who look, greater thanks to those who answer.

I'd recommend you make an online survey for anonymity.

I'll answer here if you decide not to.

My assistance would be to tell you to make it a poll on the forums, that way it really IS anonymous and you'll get a lot more answers. :P

I'd recommend either Steampunk's idea, or use something like SurveyMonkey. The PM system on these forums is simply not anonymous, nor is it intended to be.

I don't understand how the PM system here could not be private. How could it not be?

ill see about getting a poll up..not quite sure how many options it will have...

the poll system only allows for five questions. I have 10, 7 of which are multiple choice..

You could just PM the results to interested parties.

I mean, I'm still wondering how that other psych-thread turned out.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this isn't science at all. I think it's a trick. I think there's a situation in the OP's personal life between him and his other half and jealousy is causing him to be insecure. I think this set of questions was designed specifically to prove or disprove his suspicions.

To sum up my answers to the entire survey - There's no reason to avoid becoming friends with anyone based on their six. It's perfectly okay. Intentions differ from person to person and grouping bad intentions with an entire six is not a good idea.

I mean, for the poll at least anonymity wouldn't be much of a problem.

How many reply's do you need anyway OP?

I don't see the issue with people PMing the questions. What is the issue here?

I helped with this. It is nothing very personal. It is all opinion.

I got 5 responses, and at least 9 from another forum...I need about 20.

As I have said before, the poll does not allow for over 5 questions...not only making my life difficult, but as well as the other people who simply post no and want to look funny..

I'm filling it out via PM. I really don't see what the big deal about anonymity is, but to each his/her own!

Looking though the questions, I don't really see a problem with it.
But I'm kinda busy so I'll have to opt out of the questions for now.*

*Says the guy who sent me a random PM with no topic.

Private, yes. Anonymous? No. Your responses will have an identity attached to them, even if it's just a forum identity. There are much better ways to go about this.
