Astrid has no voice!

Greetings...

I have avoided most bugs so far, but have hit upon a real doosy. I have searched these forums and Google with no help.

Since our first encounter, Astid has no voice... ie: I cannot hear what she is saying, and I get no subtitles from her. The game pauses as if she is saying something, AND I have the ability to respond to whatever it is she's saying, but I hear no dialogue from her whatsoever.

I have not messed with any sound files nor and MOD involving Astrid or the DB questline.

Can I get any help here?

Thanks...

What have you tried? Restarted PC? Verified game cache? Removed mods? what mods ARE you using? PC spec's?
Can WE get some help here?

I have tried....

- restarting game
- restarting Windows
- previous saves
- disabling MODs

I don't know how my system specs could possibly be a factor since it is only 1 voice file(s) not working and the rest of the game is, but here goes:

Athlon64 6400+
ASUS M2N32-SLI MoBo
OnBoard Sound (SoundMAX)
4GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC6400 DDR2
XFX GTX260 XXX (Primary Video)
eVGA 8800GTS (PhysX)
Silverstone Decathalon 850W PSU
Gigabit LAN
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SP1
Latest drivers for all
Latest DirectX

Perhaps I should take this opportunity to mention I am 43yrs old, have been gaming since the '80s and have my own hobby-Computer Business. This problem certainly seems to be software-related... no I concede it may be an interfering MOD, but why just this one NPC's voice? Why does *everything* else work except Astrid's dialogue? I have no MOD involving her, or the Dark Brotherhood. Is there some soft of file or group of files that make up her dialogue? Can I get them fro somewhere? Surely I can't be the only one who has ever had this kind of problem. I have played Oblivion, Fallout3 and FalloutNV before this, and had no sound issues before. I'd appreciate any help wtih this problem, especially from anyone who has encountered something like this before, or who is familiar with the files involved.

Thanks!

This is a strange one! I can't find another single case of this problem. All I can suggest is to verify the game cache or do a complete re-install after wiping the Skyrim folder clean. Keep your saves but delete (or move out) the two ini's from 'My Documents\My Games\Skyrim\'

Another thing to try would be to use someone else's save to check whether it's your saves that are borked. Make sure you both have the same uGrids setting though!

Or you could start a new game and just cheat your way to the point you first meet Astrid and see if that works!

Sorry I can't offer any real help.

Apologies... it turns out one of the MODs I downloaded included a bundled bunch of smaller MODs, including a "Marry Astrid" mod (simply called "Astrid"). Once I disabled this, her voice returned.

Thanks for the help though!

I guess the idea of that mod is to give you some peace 'n' quiet from the missus!
