ATI/AMD Users: Rollback to 11.3

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:02 am

Just a quick heads-up for people who, like me, updated to 11.5 with no improvement, uninstalling my drivers and then downloading and installing Catalyst version 11.3 seemed to fix the lag and framerate issues that I was experiencing. Brink was choppy on 11.4, which I was using when I purchased Brink, and it got even worse when I upsdated to 11.5. I tried rolling back to 11.3 based on someone's comment on the Steam forums for Brink, and it did indeed work for me; the game is running significantly smoother now.

Just like all the other "fixes" out there, I can't imagine this will solve everyone's problems by any means, so no guarantees at all. For those who are desperately wanting to get Brink to work though, as I was, this one worked for me, so it may be worth a try.

oh [censored], sorry bout that Palidore, anyways thanks for your fix, however this does not mean that they should not fix this issue, as of right now, I'm not going to stoop to fix something that they need to fix in their game. This is a fatal flaw in their game that must be fixed PRONTO.

Is there a way to get a Windows 7 version, the link you gave is specifically for 32-bit.

Nevermind, google is my friend. :)

Here it is if anyone needs it:

Tried out 11.4, improves FPS a VERY little bit... But all the grid lines and graphics still look like it belongs on a playstation 1

Yeah, tried the rollback drivers as well to no avail.

Rolling back the drivers is not a fix, doesn't work very much....

I'm tired of rolling back drivers, and I'm convinced that it's all a bunch of hogwash. What we need are new and improved drivers from ATI or a patch for Brink itself to improve performance. Otherwise, I don't know that there's really anything we can do about it.

As I said in the original post, no guarantees or anything. It did work for me though after someone else suggested it on Steam's forums. I know the 11.5 hotfix isn't working for everyone, including me when I tried it, so thought I'd post a possible alternative.

It did definitely work for me, anyway. Playing Brink on 11.4 was moderately laggy, 11.5 was unplayable, but 11.3 it's overall pretty smooth. Sorry to those it didn't work for. I suspected it wouldn't work for everyone by any means, but I figured for those desperately trying to get Brink to run, it was at least worth a mention as opposed to not posting anything at all.

Regardless I very much agree that the fact we have to try all these different alternatives in attempt to get the game to run is pretty terrible. This is why betas are necessary.

Forever, you guys could also try http://downloads.guru3d.com/, since I personally do not use drivers from ATi or NVidia, I wait untill these guys release them, they are generally more stable for me, though, it still may not fix your issues, however worth a try untill a fix/patch does come out.

I just wanted to say that I rolled back to 11.3 and the game runs much better for me. I tried 11.5a first but it made the game run like a toilet. Much better now though. Thanks a lot for the tip.

Oh btw, I have a 4850. Cheers. :)
