So, the ATI 11.5a RC3 hotfix is supposed to add a nice FPS boost to Brink for all of us poor ATI users, and it does! Yay! :celebration:

HOWEVER

It's a coin toss now when I start up Brink as to whether it will actually start or just crash freeze to desktop.

question: my MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 2048MB is about to be delivered. do i just install the hotfix? is it the full drivers and CCC etc? or do i need to install the latest drivers then the hotfix over the top? the documentation is terrible. my first ati card for about 6 years!!!

Brink is running perfectly at 60fps max graphics no bugs.

You don't have to download the normal drivers first. the hotfix download has the full package and you can choose what to install =)

im really stuggling with this ati card.

whatever i do online i get crap fps. turning everything down results in the same fps. obviously a bug somewhere. i get the same fps as with my 5 year old 8800 (in fact that works better)

i have a 6950 flashed to 6970 so it should be looking at 100+ fps with everything high. this game needs a patch bigtime! that with the sound dropping, servers dropping etc isnt making for a fun day! grrrr

btw - in challenges im sometimes hitting 100 fps.

what game settings do you have in the CCC? whatever i do it just doesnt feel smooth enough

I have everything maxed on my 6950. All in-game settings are maxed. All CCC settings are maxed. I play at 1920x1080. My minimum FPS is 52 and my avg gameplay fps is 64.

I've never experienced the server dropping issue.

I have a 2600K, and, yes, 11.5A RC3 is the driver I'm using.

I just installed this hotfix and I am no longer able to start the game. It just loads and then disappears from my taskbar

bizarrely after some tweaking in the config util etc i can now get 60fps still drops in a few maps in certain places. but playable at least now!

still annoying that its barely better than the 8800 i had before lol.

My game also will not open and occasionally even crashed my entire computer now I want this issue addressed! I am using a single 5750. If this is an official support thread why is it getting less of an official response then the community thread!

Since installing these drivers I have yet to get it to successfully open once.

have you tried the config utility? that helped me. it actually looks better now than before too!

I'm not exactly sure what good a configuration utility for INGAME content would do me if I cannot get in game...

it might help. the game will not start if you have the wrong number in the threaded section for instance.

as im a developer im well used to problem solving and turning everything off then working up. thats how i got decent fps in this game when so many people cant with the same card i have.

below is my xml data from the config, it might help. dont just copy and paste in because the numbers might differ in the ProgSettings Path node. (might be easier to read if you save that as .xml and load in your browser, it will format better.

I have tried the ATI 11.5a RC3 cos it was adviced to do so to get a better gameplay.
I got nothing but a laggy gameplay so I've put my old driver back.

I was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience...

what 'old driver' are you using as is it better?

i find its good then bad for me. really annoying. one time i get decent fps on a map then its poor on the same map later.

Was 10.6 but not sure, will check later when I get home. But it runs ok with the old driver while the new one caused nothing but lag and low fps.
