ATI users under performing, your specs...

Hi guys, after experiencing not great performance with ATI cards can anyone post here i want to see if 1 element is a deciding factor, since some people are having great times with ATI also. please dont post if you have nvidia card as this will just confuse the issue.

can everyone (even those with good performance) please list the following too:

Operating system (i.e. Win7 64bit)
CPU (i.e. core 2 duo extreme q9550 @ 3ghz)
ATI card (i.e. 6970)
System RAM (i.e. 4gb)
Soundcard (i.e. X-fi gamer)
Motherboard (i.e. P5n-d)
Driver version
cap version
what settings you play with
low fps (say you see no lower than 25fps)

on a side note i tried lowering every setting last night and still got FPS drops in certain areas. whacking all settings up seemed to see the same fps. so something is bottlenecking somewhere. is it the CPU maybe?

to get this kicking off here are mine:

Win7 64bit
core 2 duo extreme q9550 @ 3ghz
6970 2gb
4GB
P5n-d - nforce chipset 780i (or 750i i forget)
latest driver
cap 4
all high, no AO
25fps min. (seems to play smoothly even with those severe drops)

Win7 64bit
i5 2500k
4870x2 2gb
8gb
Asus p8p67pro
catalyst 11.5
Driver Version 8.85.6
Shadow med., Textures high, AO on, rest off (1920x1080 and 1650x1050) no tearing, bleeding, jaggs are minimal (tend not to notice when u move quick or die)
45fps min.

and yes I reformatted my sig to match yours (creepy;-p?), your style was just more efficient, so tks.

EDIT: When AA, HQ proc or Mblur are turned on, fps drops by up to 25 (to a min of 20fps and stutters) - thats the OPENGL prob withhn ATI drivers?

Windows Vista 64 bit
intel core 2 duo @ 3.0ghz
radeon hd 4850 1 GB
8 GB RAM
Asus P5q pro
latest drivers and ccc 11.5b (hot fix)

I was getting roughly 10 - 20 frames on the lowest possible settings.

AMD Phenom X4 9850 BE @ 3.0 ghz
ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe (crossfire board)
PCP&C 750 watt PSU
4 gigs of Kingston ram (pc2-6400 400mhz)
XFX Ati 5770 HD - 11.2 drivers
Creative X-Fi soundcard, creative 5.1 speakers
Windows 7, on a WD 500 gig hd.

Have had good performance from the get-go. 30-60 fps, except in very open areas during 8v8 fights. AO off is a definite improvement.

AMD Athlon X2 @ 3.1 ghz
6 Gig RAM
ATI 5830 1gig
ASUS M3A78
Windows 7 64 bit

Fps is around 15-20 at medium settings, lower settings doesn't improve fps much.Tried all 11.xx drivers and many 10.xx

wonder if its a DX11 issue?

CPU: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 4200+ Dual Core Processor
Board: Asus A8R-MVP
Ram: 2GB
Grafik: ATI Radeon HD 4800 (1 GB)
Audio: Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio
OS: Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 3
DirectX: DirectX 9.0c

I use the Catalyst 11.5 driver incl. hotfix but I get only 8-15 ftp at a resolution of 640x480.
The details are all at lowest, shadows are disabled, windowed mode dont′t give more fps.
The strange thing is Crysis 2 runs very smooth and has a bit better graphics than Brink.

Hope there is a fix soon that I can play Brink together with my friends.

Doesn't Brink use OpenGL? ...I remember back in the day, Nvidia had crappy OpenGL performance compared to 3Dfx...I have a feeling it's a similar situtation where ATI's OpenGL drivers are not performing well.

doh, of course it does. problem is that opengl has always been flakey. one of the reasons i always preferred UT to quake.

I have managed to get my system to run smoothly about 50-60 by using the newest RC and some tweaking of the config. There is one factor though that doesnt change regardless of my settings or drivers. Wide open areas. The post processing effect that is used prominently in this game is depth of field. So as the view distance increases frame rates drop the effect intensifies. This is most apparent in security tower. I get framerate increases across the board with the updates except for here. It must have something to do with an unoptimized depth of field shader. I have found no way to disable it. Or it may be emulated or at least tied to the cpu in some way. If we had the ability to tweak it or just disable, this might fix a lot of the problems people are having with ati.

Windows 7 64bit
Opteron 4180 (single processor in CPU0, 2.6ghz Lisbon)
Radeon 5870 @ 1000/1300 (on liquid, ain't gonna overheat)
4GB DDR3 1600mhz@1333mhz (2x 2gb)
Razer AC-1 (CMI8788)
MSI MS-91F7
Catalyst 11.5a
(mobo drivers only available for Windows Server, don't need them anyway)
Additionally, the game runs off a Western Digital Velociraptor 300gb
1680 X 1050, all high, vsync on
FPS just keeps dropping, when sliding etc. Hell, I only achieve 60 FPS like 25% of the time. Usually it stays at 30FPS because of the Vsync.
