What is it? I know it's a bug but I wasn't aware of any problem?

I think it kinda glows at nighttime or something, I don't really care.

Edit/ They are talking about it here http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1360604-will-bethesda-ever-fix-atomic-nirnroot-glows/

It's when your Nirnroots start to look something like this:

http://media.photobucket.com/image/skyrim%20nirnroot%20glow%20glitch/MarkQuinn2k9/Skyrim_Nirnroot_Glow.jpg

The glows stack over time, causing save file bloat and eventually leading to an unplayable character. What makes it worse is that the glow remains even after harvesting. Check out this video and fast forward to around 1:15 to see what I'm talking about:

It's a pretty serious problem hopefully Bethesda will patch it soon.

There's a mod that handles the nirnroot issue (amongst other things):

I'm worried about this because I love alchemy and usually pick everything I walk by. Really hope they patch it before it gets too bad

Picking it up is the good thing to do, its when you dont pick them the trouble starts.
When you dont pick them, leave the cell they are in and re-enter it, there will be a layer of glow added.
Worse, when you then pick it, only one glow layer is removed, so the second one is still there.
If you dont pick it for a while, and travel a lot, then youll end up with these huge domes of light you see in the screenshots, consisting of dozens of glow layers, and you can only ever remove one.
That messes up your savegame.

And when they respawn it just starts again where it left off, you can never get rid of bugged glow layers, if youre on console.

I really hope this gets adressed in the next patch.

I'm sure they will, if it's as game breaking as it sounds :( also its not exactly a rare occurrence by the sound of it, so they can't ignore it for long xD

They shouldn't spawn if you are not there.

I dont know exactly what you mean.
Respawning of plants is dependant on time spent away from the cell.

Replication of Nirnroot glow happens every time you travel from cell to cell.
As soon as you enter a new cell, a new layer of glow is added to any previously unpicked Nirnroot.

As far as I know this is not a bug one can avoid and it persists on all platforms.

I mean the plant won't spawn in the cell until you enter said cell.

So if you travel around everywhere else and then return to the Nirnroot there won't be a giant glow, just one layer will be added at most.

Well at least that's how it should work...

There is a layer of glow added every time you enter a new cell, yes, to any plant you have not harvested.

That is the entire point.
There is at least one Nirnroot up north somewhere that is unharvestable due to it being in a log.
Every single time you enter that cell during the course of that game, you will add another layer of glow to that one, and any other unharvested Nirnroots in that entire cell.

Its quite a disruptive bug, not only aesthetically but more importantly because it has an adverse effect on game performance.

If you're on pc, yes. I was doing so and found that my nirnroots had 6-8 glows on each! Eventually found it too tedious and am now using a mod which takes care of it for me.

There is no reason Beth should not have rectified this in one of their 5 patches so far.

It's starting to show effect on my save file. There is around 4 around Whiterun that are kind of out of control. I don't really want to obsess over picking them so I just don't. I shouldn't have to. I'm definitely going to put the game down after I'm done with this character until it's fixed. Hopefully when it is fixed, it'll fix it for games already in progress and not just new ones.

If it does eventually happen to me then Beth are loosing my vote for sure. Between TES and fallout, how many bugs have we put up with? If they can't fix an actual GameBreaking glitch then I'll put my dagger in their faces. Oh wait.. I won't be able to because my game won't load! -_-
