Audio and Visual Euphoria

Post » Thu Jun 28, 2012 6:37 pm

I think that we can all think of a certain place (or time-related event) in Skyrim where the perfect combination of visual and audio stimulation provokes a feeling of euphoria.

My favorite so far would have to be wandering the streets of Whiterun while this(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMxt7-QoWf0) is playing.

Feel free to share your favorite scene as well.

That's just marvelous. Jeremy Soule outdid himself in this and other tracks. I remember watching the trailer with this playing in the background a few days before Skyrim came out, it was an evening scene, the streets of Whiterun. I remember thinking Wow.

Every time i hear that song it reminds me of Morrowind and i suddenly expect to see golden sunshine caressing the cobble streets and stone walls of Solitude.

Another song which caught me off guard with divine inspiration was Masser (night 3) as i was making a long lonely trek across the frozen tundra of Skyrim. As the music suddenly played i no longer felt alone and it was as if some higher power was watching over me in the game and in real life.

Ancient Stones (village 1) makes me feel as if am in some horror movie full of witches and vampires during the more romantic relaxing moments wandering the farm covered plains with a sense of grand adventure in the air.

One of my favorite pieces is Secunda (night 2) which conjures up images of villagers sleeping in their warm beds in the cold night as i look down upon them from some high hill in the distance their town bathed in a peaceful blue.

My most memorable one was climbing to the top of Reachwind Eyrie to see the sun setting to the west, and one of Jeremy's wonderful orchestral pieces playing. I stood there looking in awe for many long minutes before the sun peaked over the hills and the glow of it setting faded. I didn't leave until it was quite dark outside.
