I am just starting out in skyrim but unfortunately the game is almost unplayable due to a annoying bug.
Whenever I am facing a NPC talking to me, I can't hear them - however if I have them talking in my periferial view I can hear them.
I am using simple stereo headphones.
After scanning the internet, I believe this kind of bug is due to some conflict between my realtek driver and skyrim, which makes skyrim send centre audio to a non-existing centre audio channel.
I have tried updating my drivers, both to those provided by ASUS and by Realtek directly, three times, and configuring the realtek hd driver to 5.1 with all but front channels removed as some suggested, and also tried every playback mode in windows (16/24-bit, 44-192 kHz)
Going mental - any ideas?
Edit: Tried my Fiio E7 which is essentialy a usb sound card with its own seperate generic microsoft USB audio device driver - to no avail. I am still experiencing exactly the same problems.
