"Augment" Your Summoned Weapons

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 4:13 pm

I have recently noticed that summoned weapons are just a shadow of their forged daedric counterparts. You can enchant them, you can improve them, and they will generally do more damage. Summoned weapons, on the other hand are cheap but not very strong and (to my knowledge) cant be improved very much (the mystic binding skill doesn't improve them very much). So, my idea is simple. There should be some extra perks just shooting off of the mystic binding perk that can "augment" your bound weapons, giving them extra effects (fire, ice, lightning). Also, the mystic binding perk should have 5 levels to make your bound weapons amazing. Any ideas are appreciated

They?
Who are "they"?
Bethesda?
Add things? Why? They've been taking things away all this time. That is their way now. Remove all the fun stuff until everyone has to just hit dragons with swords and that is the whole game.

I wouldn't be surprised if TES VII played much more like Zelda, but not as good.

Another thing I wouldn't mind seeing would be an alteration spell that boosted melee damage with conjured weapons, as well as causing power attacks to drain magicka instead of stamina. Once the CK is out I kind of want to make a bunch of spells that recreate the Arcane Warrior from Dragon Age: Origins, a mage that uses melee for damage, augmenting their ability through spells rather than having real physical strength.

That's a tad dramatic...

Anyways, hopefully we'll see this with the CK.

How is a bound bow (better than deadric) "not very strong", considering you can get it at level 5 for certain characters? Don't forget you'll be dealing 24 damage with its daedric bound arrows as well. Personally I think it's a tad overpowered.

it might be strong at the beginning, but my point is that, if you work hard on smithing, you can make a normal bow that does four times the damage by level 30

Because something you invest several perks into, and something central to a certain play style shouldn't become inevitably obsolete.

Here's a table of bound weapons from the UESPWiki: The third column is the amount of damage it does.

Well that didn't work.

Here's the link to all the bound weapons and the damage they do:

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Bound_Weapon

Not counting the arrow damage.

Note that the mystic version of the weapon does more damage.

Bound bow is amazing.

Bound Sword is great early on, but I did surpass it around level 20-24

The bow though? psh, the Nightinggale bow... probably the BEST magic bow you can get (short of self making using ridiculous enchant, smithing, alchemy tricks) is BARELY better than the bound bow...

and the bound bow gets FREE daedric arrows... FREE. The usefulness of that is astounding.

Haven't used bound axe though to know how it compares to 2hand weapons.... I guess my 2hand dude could go pick up the spell and find out.......

A dual-enchanted bow is and always be better than a bound bow. Not sure where you're getting your information...

You're crafting....

ANYTHING max crafted is better than EVERYTHING ELSE in the ENTIRE bloody game.

I don't count crafted items... only valid craftng is Alchemy and Arcane Smithing Improvement IMO

Enchanting and Full Smithing is broken.... unless you're playing master... but I hate modes that require you to abuse every mechanic to win

I don't really understand why people need to have the "very best" of something all the time? I had a character who used bound weapons without the perks and was sufficiently killing everything at lvl 50. This isn't WoW, where you need to compete with other people :S

This would be great for an arcane archer character.

truly, it would be great for any character using conjuration who doesnt just want to summon something to do their work for them.

I"ve been playing a character whose only weapons are dual bound swords and bound bow (Augments his abilities with spells). He also only wears upgraded/enchanted hide armor. Dude looks, and IS badass. I'm level 33 right now and having a blast. With conjuration and one-handed perks, bound weapons are awesome. Can you craft better weapons? Sure, but that's not everyone's bag, baby.

Provided you use a few fortify archery enchants, the Bound Bow remains quite viable (if not borderline overpowered) on any difficulty. It can be made to do over 200 damage just using normal enchanting with perks (but no potions). This might not seem like much in comparison to smithed bows with similar enchants, but the very high rate of fire for the Bound Bow more than makes up for the lower damage. Plus the banish enchant (something I never would put on a smithed weapon, just because there are many better options) actually does come in handy from time to time.

Negative Nancy is negative.

The OP idea would be nice- If you are on PC there are already mods that are just doubling/tripling the damage outputs- or making Mystic binding into a 3 rank perk. Definitely doable.
