[POSSIBLE SPOILER!] Avoiding bounty in "The Forsworn Con

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 12:04 pm

after i finish "The Forsworn Conspiracy" by going to Eltrys location, confronting the guards and going to jail intentionaly thus starting "No One Escapes Cidhna Mine" i get 1000 bounty. is it possible to avoid getting bounty? my character is 100% good and i dont want to have lifetime bounty in my stats. some workaround or console command would be welcome :)

I think a stat is a stat even if you try to remove the current bounty (which should happen once you finish the quest chain anyway). Like if you killed a bunny it will go toward the 'bunnies slaughtered' stat even if you resurrect it with a console command. The bounty is forced on you because of mistaken identity so the only way to avoid it is to avoid eltrys's note and the starting sequence of events which is the murder pretty much upon entering markarth.

I don't believe it's possible to avoid it, at least not within the game. Given that you were falsely accused I wouldn't let the score worry you, in fact your character could even take it as a badge of honor that they only time they ever had a bounty it was corrupt guards trying to cover up their illegal acts.

Save it to the end to get the acomplishment of having 1000 bounty in each hold.

Just had this happen last night, paid the bounty and then had every single guard in the city come after me. I hacked and slashed my way the city exit and don't think I am going to be welcome back so soon. I wish I had know this before I got to far into this quest, i don't particularly care for Markarth but looks like I won't be buying that house in my attempt to score all 5 homes.

Anyone know if there is a way around this are or are we dead everytime we walk into this place?

I don't see a reason to do this quest so I'm not going to do it at all. I played around with it at another time and ended up reloading because I had skipped a whole section and it still let me go to the end anyway. I never got the information from the guy who wants to brawl so I felt it was bugged and now I don't see a reason to even do it. He never stopped wanting to fight, btw and would chase me around the city. There was a quest in Oblivion I never did because you had to go to jail too. I just skipped it.

Yeah, when this happened to me I freaked out, too. I knew it had to be resolved somehow but I didnt know how it would play out or if I'd ever get my stuff back. I loaded an earlier save and then went and then went back to markarth with all my prized special weapons stashed safely at breezehome.
SLIGHT SPOILER:
I dont want to spoil it for you, but if you go with it, you WILL get out of the jail with some help from the despicable scum allready locked up in there. It really is a better bet to go to jail than fight and fight and ruin a whole good city for the sake of it. and you do get your stuff back
