Awesome dragon killing AI experience

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 7:34 pm

My son was in Riverwood upgrading his weapons. He sold his steel weapons and was on his way to the forge to forge dwarven ones when Alvor goes "By the gods, Dragon!" Alvor then whips out his weapons . the guards are firing ineffectively. My heavily armored but unarmed son keeps interposing himself but cant hurt it. Sigrid won't go inside until finally her daughter makes it to the doo and goes insider. Finally Hod's son ( little kid who wants to join the Stormcloaks) says "I've got to do something' and rushes across the square to my son's PC. He then adds a woodsman axe to my son's inventory and flees. My son then kills the dragon with the woodsman's axe.

Doesn't get cooler than that.

What I find most amazing is that the AI was able to determine that your son's PC needed a weapon, and then was able to send an NPC to provide one. I've never heard of a game doing that except as part of a scripted sequence.
