Awesome follower moments?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 2:21 pm

This literally JUST happened, and I felt like I had to post it somewhere. xD

I'm marching around the Skyrim at night with mah boii Kharjo, when I see a giant's camp just below us. I jumped down and, Skyrim's pathfinding being as crazy as it is, Kharjo figured he'd find a way around. So I'm looting the chests at the camp, careful to step around the giant so as not to aggravate him, and I wait in a little corner for Kharjo to catch up. After a few minutes, he runs back to me, with an angry giant in tow xD

It's the most awesome thing I've ever seen, and I'm still laughing about it. The way the giant was chasing him, waving his club in the air was very slapstick. It was so perfect, I kind of feel like it was scripted or something!

Have you guys had any hilarious/bizarre experiences with YOUR Lydia/Varkas/Kharjo/etc.? Post 'em! (:

Well mine was, when I decided to punish Lydia for hanging in my ears for like 300 h with her complaining about carrying my burden. I took her into one of the biggest forsworn encampments which was currently under the attack of an Elder Dragon and took away all of her clothes and equipment except a Nord Hero Greatsword and sent her right into the thick of battle. After a couple of minutes the last Man standing was my beloved blood covered Lydia who still swore to carry my burdens...

I gave Revyn Sadri a shiv and sent him to attack an Imperial patrol to prove he was marriage material. He didn't win - they beat him back into the river and he floated all the way to Windhelm.

not hilarious or bizarre...but awesome moments with Lydia, yes.

Don't remember the location - doesn't matter - but the 2 of us were about to wipe-out a group of draugr.
I have my Lydia leveled up (I'm lvl31 myself), so she's quite capable of handling herself in combat.
I decided to let her do all the work, but conjured a (dual-casted) flame atronach to assist her, just in case....it would cause some distraction, so she could focus on 1 target at a time.
She wears a ring and circlet to enhance her stamina, and a neclace to boost her blocking-skills.

She's equipped with my 2nd Dawnbreaker, and hardly switches over to another weapon, so I guess she likes it :P
Anyway, I watched in amazement, as she began the slaughter, and the 1st draugrs started to explode (a random side-effect of the Dawnbreaker)...it really looked like this got her fired-up even more, because her next moves were so fast, that it was over before I knew it!
2 enemies were left, attacking her together.
She made a 360dgr spin around her axis, killed 1 enemy instantly, and the 2nd fell nearly dead to the ground.
Then she kneeled, changed her grip on the dawnbreaker, and killed the last draugr with a 2-handed powerstab in the chest.

Since then, I do this more often, sit back and enjoying the show :)
Sometimes, I use some ranged magic to manipulate the fight...but she's doing all the dirty work!
When things are going out of control, I step in for a brief moment, use the one or the other Shout, and Healing Hands on Lydia.
And the fight goes on.

question: to which level can she level-up (through console)?
level 35max?

I asked Lydia to wait around a corner while I took care of a Dwemer Centurion Master. Aggro'd it with a sneak attack bow shot and was switching weapons when Lydia charged past me. Sigh. DCM steams her but good, so I used the moment of distraction she'd won for me to flank the thing and do it in with a flurry of attacks from my mace, Flamefist. DCM falls and Lyds is standing there doing her shoulder stretch animation like she'd just conquered the Boss. Heh. Glad she's still alive.

I was up at the bridge outside Riverwood when a dragon appears, so I thought that it was a good time to try out Stormcall to see what happened. I let rip the shout, the heavens open up, I hear several thumps of thunder, then "Not this way..." and turn around to see Lydia staggering around next to the river, then stagger into it and get swept towards the waterfall when she then gets hit by lighting again...

I don't know what happened to the dragon, but I found the deceased Lydia up near Whiterun floating past the bridges.

My best experience was with Lydia (Only follower I have ever used, Just cause they get in the way a lot) But, I had been surrounded by Draugars in a dungeon, I easily held my own against them, until a Draugar Wight was left, and we both had each other down to basically next hit = kill, then out of no where right before he lands his blow, Lydia runs up and kills him, saving me :D Thought it was badass

Not exactly awesome, rather aggravating but I wanted to share it.

So playing with my sneaky archer, early in her playthrough, I join the Companions and go on some quests with them. Being early in the game, I don't have good enough armor or a powerful bow/arrows, so I rely heavily on sneaking. I get Farkas with me on one quest, and he keeps breaking my sneak and charging forward. Well in those cases I just let him take all the damange. Anyways, much later in the game, I recruit Farkas as a follower and go explore some Dwemer sites, and there it is: an activated Dwemer Centurion! Problem is, I can't get outside without getting past it, and it detects me every time, so I say let's fight it. I shoot an arrow from stealth to do enough damage and then just start using Shouts, firing arrows, and thanking my luck for having a heavily-armored follower to take some damage and help me out. Instead, I see Farkas standing with his sword drawn, looking at me and waiting. Since I was already in combat, I couldn't talk to him to order him to attack, and he did get damaged from the centurion, but not once did he attack. Great, my dear Farkas, you broke my sneak all the time and now that I'm getting my behind kicked by an almighty centurion, you're just standing there. Good and honorable work! :verymad: :verymad:

Been there, done that.

I remember once I was using Faendal.
In a bandit cave we stumbled into a room which was filled to the rim.
At least 4 arrows are shot at us, and time freezes when Faendal throw himself in front of me, taking 2 of the arrows.
The rest misses both of us.
Faendal shouts "Not this way!" and brings up his bow, felling one of the bandits.
Then he takes another one and fall to one knee.
I manage to drag him back into the tunnel, and standing over him I pick down the rest if the bandits with my own bow.
I get hit and are low on health.

Suddenly I hear a cry behind me as I see one bandit behind be charging me.
I stop and prepare to reload just as I see Faendal coming after him.
I watch as Faendal valiantly raise his dagger and stab the bandit in the back with a finishing move.
Good ol' Faendal, I ended up killing him.
Appearently he's the only follower who attacks you if you break the law.

The only one I can think of was when Lydia and I sneaked into a cave and surprised two bandits. I killed the first and before I could even get at the second he turned tail and ran, with Lydia hot on his heels. I ran after them both and the bandit jumped into a lake and swam away.

Lydia stood on the edge and shouted, "You are a shame to your kind!"

I thought that was a classic. It was perfect really. Almost real for that moment.

I found it quite fun when I recruited the Khajiit J'Zargo from the college of winterhold as a follower. After reading that he was both the only follower that would level up with the Dragonborn to level 81, and that he was unusually proficient in unarmed combat, I crafted him a full set of daedric armor and ring/necklace, with the unarmed enchant being on his gloves, ring, and necklace and other enchants such as health. I then went to a forsworn camp and then laughed as he started brawling with the forsworn after using up his mana, even going as far as to one shot a few of them with a good punch.

I've found that he also sends his target flying when he lands a killint blow. I was fighting a giant the other day, when J'zargo runs up, swings, and launches the dead giant a good 35 yards. He is one badass kitty, and his dialogue just makes things even more awesome.

I have used Lydia quite a bit as a companion and she always manages to annoy me. I remember one time I was at a barrow working my way through the guards. I had given her two stavers one of lighning and one of firewall. I had 3 or 4 bandits aggro at once and I was hearing the staves so wasn't paying to much attention to her but had a record program running that I was going to use to keep a video blog. So I get done with the fight and I save close out then bring up the program to watch the play back. I notice that Lydia made good use of the staves on a rabbit and two butterflys while I was engaged with the bandits, it was funny but annoying at the same time.

I have Jordis at the moment and the funniest moment for me was when she stepped into a spiked swinging gate trap, got hostile towards the gate and attacked it!

She seems to have a thing for dragon-slaying too. Three dragons in a row she's picked fights with and won without much help from me. Awesome!

The other moment I had with her was in some ruins. We were outnumbered by skeletons and she kept saying in a worried tone "we never should have come here". Got past those without problems but later on I thought it would be a good idea to test out some scrolls. The scroll in question exploded and hit her. She turned on me and restated her "we never should have here" line, but this time her tone of voice was different, as though she was saying it through gritted teeth. It was so realistic that it freaked me out and she ended up killing me because I was so taken aback! haha!

Frequently when I fire an arrow or firebolt (etc.) at an enemy they will do a quick jump to the side and dodge it (even if I fire from hiding). Well Lydia started doing the reverse - jumping in front of my shots. Short story, she died while fighting a bunch of frost spiders. I let her die this time. The same will go for any other followers stupid enough to do that.

I've yet to take a Companion with me. I've found that all they seem to do for poor Ra'vhash is give away his position and draw much unwanted attention.

Krosis comes burstin out of his coffin and starts spelling Lydia nad I as he sails around the locale. I get a couple of arrows into him as he stops to let a spell rip. Lydia is sort of falling over and out of battle. I try to take the battle into Krosis' face with a Warhammer. I get a swing, Krosis is down to almost no health but flies away, concentrating spells on me. Krosis then stops to get a concentrated spell going, then wham. Lydia gets right in his face with a killing blow.

Bethesda, can we get a "high five" animation, please.

best moment yet. Krosis, "I have you now , Mortal". Lydia, "Hi". Krosis, "What the...". Lydia, *hwack*. Krosis, "I think I will dissolve now".

My best moment was with Erik the Slayer. We were fighting Falmer in one of their caves near Riften. I had to reload multiple times because he would die by their posion or I would. We were fighting four and it was a desperate struggle to survive. Erik and I, dressed as Solitude guards (part of my RP) were barely surviving. I jump back to avoid a blow and fall down a bit and have to fight my way back to where Erik was. Erik was on his knees at this point. I was like "Erik! Hold on!"

I killed two of the Falmer and made by way back to Erik to find him, expecting him to be dead. I found him standing atop the body of one of the Falmer and kill sycning the other one. It looked badass. I said "I am so glad I replaced Sven with you."
