Awesome idea to introduce in a big scale update: fletching.

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 5:30 pm

If only if only i didn't have to let draugr deathlords shoot their ebony arrows at me so I can get arrows... If only there was a way to fletch my own! And after I've fletched them... perhaps I could improve them after the fact? If only... But for now, I guess we're all stuck BUYING and stealing arrows out of targets. Eh, maybe it's just an idea I like the sound of, anyone else's thoughts? Would fletching be a nice skill that you would use? Or would you rather continue getting arrows the same old way?

I've got more arrows than I could ever use. It seems for every dozen I use, I loot twenty more.
If it were a skill though, I would use it. Only because it sounds like fun to me.

It would be nice to make dragon arrows out of bone. and then enchant them.

I think it's a great idea. Archers should be able to benefit from smithing as well, IMO.

Skyrim has a noticeable lack of fletching, spellmaking, tailoring, and brewing crafting stations.

yes i used arrow fletching mods in both morrowind and oblivion. also, what happened to archer being very powerful but arrows hard to come buy. i seem to remember seeing or reading about that. after the first dungeon im rolling around with more arrows than i know what to do with. they should also add weight to them.

You can buy 120~ in Whiterun alone every two days. It would be nice if you could turn Ingots and wood into arrows though.

An official update including fletching would be most useful. It would also give another use for firewood, which has very little significance throughout the game.

Firewood has some use already? Had no idea.

But fletching could easily fit into Smithing. Point in Orcish Smithing? Make Orcish Arrows. Leather Strip (x), Type of metal, and/or firewood could make X number of arrows would be cool. As of right now I know alot of people just go to the thieve's guild and reverse pickpocket the archer who shoots at the targets forever, just one arrow - which he then shoots an infinite amount of and you can AFK for however long and come back and pick them all back up.

Firewood is used to improve the longbow, which is quickly replaced by stronger bows early in the game. The only other use I can find is providing a steady income as a lumberjack.

Instead of a new skillset, it should just be added to Blacksmithing.

Fletching sounds like a fun idea. But I always found myself with enough arrows on my first character (archer).

I recommend you use enchanted weapons (banish is the most useful). Then use those weapons to buy arrows from merchants. You'll be increasing your enchanting skill in the process and if you are smithing your weapons then you are also increasing your smithing skill.

I don't understand what you're saying here, but my archer has smithing and regularly upgrades his bows. I don't powerlevel smithing, so it's a slow process, but it works just as it does with other weapons/armor.

Just save your HQ arrows for hard fights.

My archer always has enough arrows, dwarven and orcish arrows suffice most of the times. Even steel arrows will do for the random bear or bandit. I save my glass and everything above only for when I want to end a fight with a tough opponent quickly.

Besides there are mods for craftable arrows if you really want it.

Justsay YES to fletching....also to being able to enchant the arrows instead of the bow. With an Archer you have to carry 3 or 4 bows so that you can use the proper enchantments on the proper enemy etc....instead I would LOVE to be able to make my own arrows and enchant them in a variety of ways....However if the arrows actually weighed you down it would make no difference if you had a variety of bows or arrows in your inventory....since arrows weigh nothing bring on the fletching and arrow enchanting....would give me something to to use all those excess dragon bones and scales in storage.

edit: I am a console player so I am stuck praying for Bethesda to hook me up.

Jumping on the "Add Fletching to Smithing" bandwagon here. My characters are always bowmen first and swordsmen second. I really like the idea of making dragonbone arrows.

Fletching should be in the game, and arrows made more scarce.
