Awesomely Terrible Movies

Post » Sat Jun 25, 2011 10:07 am

So, sometimes a movie is just so bad that its hilarious. Genius in its own right. What are the worst yet most enjoyable movies you guys have seen? I need recommendations; I like to watch them with friends and comment like the robots on Mystery Science Theater 3000 :D

1. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0185183/: John Travolta with dread locks. Cavemen flying F16 fighter jets. $31 million dollar budget.

2. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1047490/ (Lo): Filmed entirely in one room. A man conjures up a demon that will eat him once the conjuring spell is over. Terrible special effects, atrocious costumes, and half of the movie is a musical! Brilliant!

3. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0235280/: This movie is so bad its indescribable, yet Lion’s Gate backed this. Mannequins are used in place of extras for fight sequences. The main villain, “Mr. X” has an x made of duct tape on his fedora (in case you forget who he is). A childishly crude cardboard mockup of the town is used when one of the cheerleaders, who is now 200 feet tall, fights a 200 foot tall catholic school girl. Not much else needs to be said.

You guys have any other terrible movie additions? I like foreign flicks too :)

The only bad movie I've seen and liked is Funny Games. Other than that, I make sure I'll love a movie long before I watch it, just as Gorbad said.

Edit: Actually, I could count all the Nic Cage movies I love, but I don't consider anything he's in bad. :P

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Never been able to sit through the entire thing, and have no desire to thanks to "great" acting like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIt0VY7Yg2w

Hitman.

Despite being utter crap, it did some of the ornate kill plans from the games well, but there should have been more of it and less ridiculous fighting. I enjoyed it all the same.

The Fifth Element.

The whole thing feels like it was supposed to be an indy film made to be ironic, but is actually an ordinary sci fi film with explosions and spaceships and stuff. It has Bruce Willis being Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich dressed in next to nothing/skintight orange dungarees. It doesn't need anything else to be a brightly coloured spectacle of awesomeness.

Flash Gordon, for similar reasons to The Fifth Element. And [censored] Queen on the soundtrack.

A movie where Nic Cage goes around beating up women, so they dump a bunch of bees on his head.

Even though it was blasted by the critics, I loved Gentlemen Broncos. Maybe it's because I have a weird sense of humor, but I laughed hysterically all throughout that movie, especially at the fashion show at the end (although I don't think I was supposed to).

It also reminded me of another movie with Jennifer Coolidge in it that I found quite humorous, Best in Show.
