Backstorymotivation ideas for a necromancing argonian?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 8:36 pm

Of all the argonian characters I've started in the past, none of them ever seem to stick, or gel that well. They just always feel half finished.
I'm at it again, this time going for a necro shaman argonian.

Style choices are light armor, conjuration, (Only soul trap and necro spells), a bit of alteration, dual wielding maces and hand axes (though I swap out a lot for other spells) and I plan on getting Namiras Ring so he can eat corpses.

Beyond that I'm having a bit of writers block so to speak on backstory and what exactly he is after (not interested in something where he just runs around and kills randomly)

I do really love and have a big attachment to his physical design, so I want to make this work and I've seen some good suggestions from this forum before so I figured I'd see if anyone could help me out.
:thanks:

My last character's sole goal was to get the master level dead thrall spell. this was his life mission so he could bring back his wife who was killed by vampires. As a twist I even had him become a vampire to really create some inner termoil. but I don't know, I always try to create a really emotional reason in back stories

I do that too. I had initially made a Bosmer necromancer who had a very similar story. Was going to have his wife, or child ect be killed and his pursuit of necromancy would be him desperately trying to bring them to life again.
But I thought it was too obvious a reason so I scrapped him.

Well, mine came from a clan of necromancers and Saxhleel dedicated to diseases, like the one on MW. His motivations is to collect as much knowledge as possible, and try to get a heads up on the next big event along with the Thalmor and their activities.

But his goals are not of altruism, but for the preservation of Mundus. He has no issues burning down a village and raising half a city's ancestors to accomplish his goals. He's also a Monomyther.

You'll have to forgive me but I am not as fluent in the lore as you appear to be.
Aside from Mundus and Thalmor, I don't understand what you said. :(

Saxhleel = the argonian's language way of saying 'argonian.'
MW = Morrowind
Monomyther = Someone who subscribes to http://www.imperial-library.info/content/monomyth, found in TES III and V

Oh my.
I can see people were indeed not exaggerating when they said TES lore is a rabbit hole.
I saw the Morrowind abbreviation, should have clarified on that.
I think I'm going to look up as much lore on argonians as I can and see if inspiration strikes me.
Thank you for that link.

There's http://web.archive.org/web/20081015141717/http://www.imperial-library.info/fsg/brendanarticle1.shtml, but....it is dated.

You can also read the Argonian Account, the RL TES books, and all dialog pertaining to every argonian

If you have any specific questions, you can PM me or go http://www.gamesas.com/forum/16-elder-scrolls-lore/and ask away
