Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 2:06 pm

So it was my first time playing skyrim and i was trying to escape the dragon in the starting village when i come up to some general dude and he says get to the keep. I was like what? Then the dragon comes down and burns me up!

I didn't think you could get killed in the tutorial before entering the keep.

Wow. May want to try the "Novice" difficulty as the game only gets way, way harder from that point on. Eventually it'll get super easy though.

When they say "run", they usually are not joking.

Run does not mean look in the sky and say "from what?". By then you should be the same quality of grilled BBQ.

There's no penanlty for setting the game on a lower difficulty. Such difficulty levels exist in games for beginers, primarily. You'll still earn achievements. You'll still experience the game the same way. You'll just kick a lot more teeth in. Also, how could you have known the game would grill you like a deep fried Mud Crab that early on if you didn't make a split-second dicision? Most games are generally more merciful than that. But that's what makes this game an adventure! America!

Why would you shout "America!" after that sentence. I'm genuinely interested...you're not some xenophobe are you?

No he's probably just a narrow minded sack of bolts that truly believes this is a forum exclusively for Americans. That's the true American spirit...sadly

Don't feel bad. I have been through the start many times. Last night I was playing around with a new char in front of the Keep. Trying to decide on who to go with. I don't know why. I always go with the same guy anyway. Then the Dragon drops down and turns to me and starts frying my char. I turned around and went through the Keep door, just as my health reached zero. It spawned me into a death loop on the other side.

I've been playing the game since release, and I was almost burned up today too! So don't feel too bad about it.
I was watching the Imperials vain attempt to hold the old'chap back and then noticed I was almost dead by one gout of fire. Needless to say, I ran into the keep without even deciding who to go with! Anywhere but outside!

No, that is not the "true American spirit." And he explained why he said that already, so don't call people narrow minded sacks of bolts without reason! Sorry to get off topic but I couldn't let that go.

Skyrim is a pretty easy game. :P Master Difficulty gets challenging, but I find that it's simply a potion chugging contest. :(

I got blasted with fire breath and knocked halfway across Helgen. I was laying on the ground, still on fire as the camera goes third person, like I just died. Then I got right back up.

i'd advise you to save the game every time you see something approaching you then. it could get frustrating for you in the early levels of the game.

Heh I died at the start too. I was checking out the scene and the dragon landed next to me and started speaking some awesome language then bam dead. I'm so bad I die on the easiest difficulty setting O.o

my brother got eaten by big al... thought "to the keep" meant "run to the locked town gate while still hand-cuffed!"

You have to stay with your guide out, not run around aimlessly.

Bad advice IMO, at least for players who tend to die a lot. :P Because you might end up saving too late, so that the instant-kill hit comes a millisecond later and you can't get out of the way anymore. Load -> instant death again. Whoops.
