Actually I can't even really go into the region, because when I did the 'No one escapes' quest from whatever that prison is in Markarth, the guards apprehended me and I said I'd rather die than go to jail, well I didn't die and I racked up 17,000 in bounty. I'm in the theives guild and the dark brotherhood but I can't find any way of clearing the bounty. I don't want to lose progression by going to jail, ANY IDEAS?

You won't lose progression if you go to jail during the No One Escapes Cidhna Mine quest.

Well, at least not if you go to jail in Markarth. It's all part of the quest.

I kind of went beyond that and killed ALL kinds of guards, so I won't hurt my game if I go serve a sentence? The quest is long over with....

If they actually send you into Cidhna Mine for the rest of the Forsworn storyline, you don't really serve your sentence, so you don't lose any progression. If you don't have the quest anymore, then yeah, you're probably screwed unless you're willing to pay your bounty (or bribe any guards that talk to you, which is all the Thieves Guild lets you do).

Yeah they don't ask for the bounty anymore, it's jail or fight. But in oblivion the theives guild fences could get your bounty cleared for half, but I haven't seen any of them yet.

If you still have the No One Escapes From Cidhna Mine in your quest log, going to jail should be perfectly safe. But if it's not... I dunno, in Skyrim none of the Thieves Guild fences seem to have this bounty-clearing ability.

this is bugged. I had the same thing happen to me. There was NO way to make it right no matter what option I took.
Use the console commands found on the wiki.
It was the only way I can get back there.

Unless you have competed the TG mini quest to bring Markath under the guild's influence then no, you can't bribe the guards. And if you don't have enough gold on you to pay the bounty you won't get that choice either. So yeah, either do time or go get some coin to pay up.

I just finished this quest yesterday. After a couple of reloads I discovered the trick to staying on the guard's good side: do nothing to help the Forsworn escape the city. Go about your business as though you'd never seen these people before in your life. If you so much as breathe on a guard during the fighting they will come after you too.

Thus my mistake!!!!!

I too have a bounty on me from the Forsworn Conspiracy quest and whenever I tried to go in Markarth the guards would confront me with only 3 options: 1.bribe for around 400gold 2.go to jail 3.fight But nothing works and I end up in jail anyway for the No one escapes Cidhna Mine quest.
The thing is I'm not in the mood to do it right now, is the quest long in the mine? So for now I just avoid Markarth even if I have about 4 quests to finish there, and kill the bounty collectors that come for me.
Another curious thing is that the bribe option from the Thieves Guild sometimes brings bigger prices than the bounty itself. Why would I wanna bribe a guard with 500 gold when my bounty is only 200? Stupid devs?
