My battle with volsung

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 6:09 pm

Right now I'm talking to graybeards and having them send me to find words of power. So they send me to these ruins and take my buddie Lydia with me, every time I come home she keeps begging me to take her somewhere. If she is this needy now imagine if I married her, anyway I'm getting off track.

So I take like 150 arrows with me, playing on master. Luckily the enemies are using bows because I start to run out halfway through dungeon. I get to the peak and do not notice the coffin in front of the wall but I hear the top explode next to me. She rushes this priest like weight watchers members rush the dessert buffet. I'm thinking to myself great Lydia you have already died four times I don't want to have to reload again. But she is owning this dude so bad she knocks him off side of cliff. I wish I could help her but all I hear when I fire my bow is the thud thud thud of a empty quiver.

So I pull out my trusty sword and jump down after this guy I want his mask I'm a greedy thief, Lydia reins all he'll from above with her bow. Unfortantly I can't get footing on the downslope of the mountain so the priest starts shooting ice bolts at me each one depletes my life total all the way and I have tonpot like crazy. Lydia laughs at me seeing she is nice and safe shooting arrows while I struggle to stand up, so I go hide behind a tree. I look through my shouts to find the perfect one and pick the lighting storm one, cast that and let my storm take him out.

And my reward is a nice red mask that let's me breath underwater so it's time to go look for sunken treasure.

The last time I fought him, he fell down the mountain, and killed like 5 bandits who were hanging out in front of Volskygge. Wouldn't have been a big deal, had he not started reviving them one after the other. Luckily I had some Dremora help of my own :D

I kind of skipped the dungeon and climbed up the mountain.

Pilgrim's Trench. I found it by accident, since I'm an argonian and its right along a path of (argonian) travel.

A couple of dragon priests are like that... they like falling off cliffs & so on, making you chase after them. Can get rather frustrating, considering the reward.

I had no problem with Volsung falling down. Just stand up top and shoot with arrows. I think he's one of the weaker Dragon Priests too.
