Hi I was just wondering what tips anyone could give my in regards to creating a battlemage. Any race that is good for this type of character. What perks are really important and what skills should i use. Any help would be welcome, thanks.

Check out my guide, it should have all the info you need. I assume by battlemage you will be wearing heavy armor. Definetly the easiest way to go once you get it enchanted up.

I think enchanting and conjuration combined with destro, 1H and an armor type can make a very powerful character.

Which race would make a better battlemage, High Elf or Breton?

I recommend Breton if using two handers, but any race is fine if you use a shield.

I play a spellsword and I put 50/50 points into magicka and health.

I make up for low stamina by using enchants and the respite perk from restoration which restores stamina when you cast a healing spell, not everyone is willing to constantly heal during battle though.

Which type of armor would be good for a battlemage, light or heavy?

Either, but lore-wise battlemages are heavy.

My battlemage went the light armor tree -> quickly to elven -> long time there -> dragon scale.

He's sitting about about a 775 armor rating now (read: max) no shield, 100 destruction, -112% dest spell cast, 100 conjuration. He's pretty much walking evil. It's fun.

The nice thing about light is the perks that allow armor to be weightless, it makes a big difference as you can raise mana, mana, health each time you level and not worry. (making burden reduction armor is nice too). when i hit 100 smithing I had 100 enchant / dual enchant now he's all set up.
