Hey guys

So I want to get into watching Battlestar Galactica. I never really got into it because there are so many Sci-fi series to watch Star Trek,Stargate, firefly etc that I just never got round to it until now. I know theres a series from like 1978-1980 and from 2004-2009 as well as some feature films. I just want to know where to start really. Because you can watch Star Trek TNG without watching TOS and theres no confusion but if I watch the 2004 series of Battlestar I don't know if its for fans with presumed knowledge of the franchise.

You don't need any prior knowledge at all to watch the 2004 series, it's a complete reboot. I only watched the first three seasons, but I don't think you need any of the feature films to be able to follow the story either. My ex made me watch some of the webisodes too, but those added next to nothing to the series so you might as well skip those. I must admit that I have never watched the old series myself, but the bits and pieces of it that I have seen led me to believe that it svcks and is best avoided.
