Beast Form: Effective?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 4:36 pm

I'm starting to get annoyed at people playing werewolves and then complaining that they're seriously weak because of that other thread.
I think I might break my vow to never play a werewolf just so I can do a master playthrough as a werewolf to shut you all up.

Light armor 100 and not trying to tank seems to be the key. It can't be that hard.

I don't know what other thread you mean. I find being a werewolf 'weak' when compared to myself.

Playing as a werewolf is doable, that wasn't the issue for me, the issue was that it felt weaker (in every strategic way) to myself as a non-werewolf. To be honest, even if it was a very powerful way to play I still wouldn't because of the forced third person perspective.

Well I got a fair bit invested into my health and stamina, I also have the one-handed tree filled out which translates into stronger swipes as a werewolf. But I did have to come up with a " wolf hunting " tactic where I will run circles around the group I'm hunting and will make sharp 90 degree turns into the group taking swipes as I pass through the group, I will continue this until one or more break away from the group and then hunt them down and kill them away from the group.Rinse and repeat as needed.
All I'm doing is basically " herding " them and picking off the weak as they run for their lives, couple this with the " fear howl " and you can become virtually unstoppable, the biggest number of NPC's that I have engaged in combat is 10-12 without breaking a sweat  As a werewolf you need lots of room to move so as to not stay in one spot for too long, I find ( for me ) that tight quarters are a death sentence for werewolves if facing more then 2 NPC's, but once again the " fear howl " pretty much solves this problem as long as your prey is Lv.30 and under.

I use it to kill dragons for the hell of it, I run up on them when they land and power attack them. Then after I knock them on their asses, i maul 'em. Rince and repeat. Oh and I also use it for giants, because screw giants!

I seem to have a glitch where I can keep my armor rating in beast form as long as I have a double of that item in my inventory so survivability is not an issue. Along with the dual wield trick playing on master is a breeze.

Has anyone managed to use Beast Form effectively? Because whenever I use it, I get completely and utterly pwned.
Yep I kick all kinds of ass. I hold RT (Xbox360) and send them flying through the air like a mini FUS RO DAH, Then I hit RB and roar. Everyone is scared shatless, and I am free to nom nom on a corpse till an idiot tries to stop me.

I came across a glitch where I was using a SWORD in beast form. I normally have a two-hander equipped, but not long ago I had soul trap and a one-hander equipped before switching back to the two-hander. When the game auto-unequipped my two-hander during transformation... it defaulted to the one-handed sword! So there I was, a werewolf with a sword glued to my hand.

If that happens the enchantment on the weapon is usable too! I would be nice to know how to force that glitch.

totem of fear roar to make them flee then sprint power attacks for massive damage. sprint power attack are the real key i can 1HKO mammoths on expert with a sprint power attack. mage armor perks along with dragon skin really make a difference

This happened to me and I was excited until I remembered that the weapon I was holding was a staff of reanimate, so my attackes did nothing lol

I think you need to have the weapon equipped and out before changing for that glitch to work.

I equip my sword in beast form if I am holding my bow when I transform. My sword is favourited, and it automatically switches to it.

OT: I absaloutly pwn with beast form on master, indeed, I find it easier than playing with my character as she is. The fear totem and the ragdoll attacks are KEY to survival.

I wiped out all of Whiterun with it.

The trick is to exploit the fact that a previous one-handed setup gets equipped when something forces a two-handed weapon (including bows) to unequip. For example, when I'm carrying a two-hander and I switch to a spell, my other hand is automatically equipped with whatever else I recently had equipped there. Same if I switch to a one-handed weapon; the other hand defaults to what I had there before. So I suppose the game makes my hands default to whatever was there before when the transformation forces the unequip of a two-handed weapon.

Whatever. My character reminded me of a video I once saw (Jane Goodall, I believe) of a chimp swinging a stick around to exercise dominance by demonstrating how clever he was.

I'm sure with the new perks announced for Dawnguard, the beast form will be a much more viable option to choose from and probably rival the vampire lord awesomeness. :)

Beat form has the best speed in the game and its running power attack can knock a giant off its feet. If you roar then MOST opponents flee and you can simply maul them. Also you get 100 extra hp when you transform. Finally standing power attacks have the potential to knock opponents off their feet
