beast form for companion quests

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 9:47 pm

So i cant decide if it is worth risking join the companions and becoming a werewolf, i know you can cure it and all but i have no idea how you do so or what the pros and cons of being a werewolf are. Any help with this task of making a decision?

i just did it, mainly cause of the disease resistance, the sleeping is all you lose and its fairly easy to level up the skills i use the most anyway, so its just a trade off, the sleeping bonus or the disease resistance. the sleeping bonus is good but about level 25 you don't need it anyway, so i would rather have the disease resistance.

Transformations are at will, good at first, then it gets worse as you lvl up. Bonus is disese resistance, outweigh exp loss. But if you pry at shrines regularly or have an enchanted item, diseases arent much of an issue.

The werewolf itself is very weak and past level 10ish it will just be a downgrade button. The question is do you want 100% disease resistance, or the option to get a resting bonus? Also, if you wish to cure it the quest is simple and straightforward.

It is also very useful for travelling if you don't want to Fast Travel, or if you can't because you're over-encumbered. It is much faster than a horse; just sit somewhere close to the city but out of sight, wait for one hour, then walk into town after you transform back to your normal self.

The form only gets "worse" if you don't level your Light Armor skill; I'm at level 56, got the form at level 15 and I'm still slaughtering most things that has been thrown at me. I also have a very low One-Handed weapon skill level and I've taken out just about everything with only a few swats.

I leveled light armor and it's still terrible. I can take far more hits before turning and I do far more damage before turning.

I don't know then; I'm playing Expert with 100 Light Armor and most things still barely make a dent in me. Then again, I also cast buffs like the mage armors right before transforming as well.

i taken the perk just to get the questline up.the additional quests were good but found the perk itself a lot of BULL.@?@?

You dnt need to be a werewolf forever as you can get rid of it if u want when you help the oldman in companions, you have to get 2 witch heads(although you might need the other 2 later)you throw 1 witchhead in a fire to cure his ghost and another to cure yourself.....this is optional as i said but you will need to get the witchheads in firstplace which is quite tough.

its all in the companion questline

Here is the list of vantages and disvantages(from Uespwiki):

Advantages while in Beast Form:
Max health increases by 100.
Max stamina increases by 100.
Faster sprint (even faster than horses).
Wolves don't attack you.
Crimes committed as a werewolf don't give you bounty.
Can let out a loud roar with the Shout/Power key to cause all enemies nearby to run in fear for 60 seconds. There are two other roars, which you will have to unlock.
Can perform a leaping power attack that insta-kills most opponents. To do this, perform a power attack while sprinting towards the target, in Beast Form. Be careful though, your aim must be good to hit the target and you do travel a small distance past them, possibly into hazards such as traps and dangerous falls.
Can occasionally pick up (by the neck) and throw humanoid enemies great distances, as well as biting off their heads, both for an instant kill.
Can use power attacks with either claw while running towards a target which does a great deal of damage and sends your opponent flying. You can then attack them while they are getting up which makes short work of most enemies. (Also you can use this to throw enemies of the edge of cliffs).
Achieving a critical hit will make you do a execution (similar to slow-mo kills but not in slow motion). These will kill your opponent instantly. (This is good for defeating powerful enemies quickly without endangering yourself).
Fighting Giants becomes much, much easier, especially for either low level mages or any level warriors. Fighting Dragons also becomes much easier.
Werewolf Executions:
You knock your enemy to the floor, jump on him/her and begin slashing them with your claws.
You knock your enemy to the floor, jump on him/her and begin biting their throat.
You grab your enemy, lift them off the floor, and throw them to the right or left (depending on what claw you hit them with).
You grab your enemy with both hands, lift them up, and rip their head off with your jaws.
You pick up the enemy by the scalp, and use your palms to crush their head.
Disadvantages of Beast Form:
Can't switch out of third person view.
Can't loot the corpses of anything you kill.
Can only regain health when you consume human corpses.
Can't pick up items.
Can't use Weapons, Spells, Items, Equipment, Shouts, or Powers.
May have trouble fitting through doorways.
Can't speak with anyone.
Almost everyone becomes hostile (some other werewolves will sometimes not object to you changing in front of them).
If someone sees you transform there's a 1000 gold fine.
Can't use the character menu.
Can't sneak.
If you have the Beast Form ability, you are not eligible for being "rested" or "well rested".
Whilst in Beast Form, you are much weaker to attacks from silver weapons

Also the werewolf form is very weak even against major cities guards,on my opnion the disease immunity is the best vantage(because you don't need to be an argonian or use a priest mask for the benefit).

i actually dont use the roar, you can throw them with power attacks, sprinting attacks usually kill most stuff in one hit, dont get surrounded, u can sprint extremely fast so you can just run around avoiding damage and sprint attacking stragglers, in werewolf form you just cant fight like in human form - you dont have armor so you have to try to evade hits, you cant heal so when feeding dont do it while surrounded by enemies, archers are your worst nightmare - take them down first etc.... you just have to play smart

pro: you are immune from disease until you/if you get cure. also, you can use werewolf shout like thing, makes creatures run. not sure how it works or if it levels.

I became a werewolf, only used it in the dungeon where you had to use it. got cured. on another playthorugh I plan on using it more.
