QA beats Skyrim in 2 hours 16 minutes and 10 seconds

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 6:22 am

So if he's skipping through all dialogue, fast traveling to every location, and rushing through every dungeon... how much play time does that equal for us? 15-20 hours on main quest?

How long does it take to beat Morrowind? 15 min? I played it for several 100 hours ... Your point is?

This is old news. They took even less to finish Oblivion and Fallout 3.

There is no point, this is a speculation thread just like the other thousand speculation threads on the forums. A place to guess how long it will take an average player to complete the main quest... sheesh.

How can we tell, solely based on the 2 hours the devs took? We have no idea how much dialogue is in, how long it will take to walk to MQ places etc. This is speculation based on nothing and therefore useless.

I know right... I ask a random question and the same users constantly get upset ;/

Me: "Hey guys, it took the devs 2 hours to beat the game during a speedrun, how long do you think it will take an average player?"

"THIS MEANS NOTHING, SHUTUP, GET OUT, RAAAAH...."

Me: "uhhh"

Had no intention of being bitter, was an honest question. If we had facts there would be no need to ask questions now would there?

Not to be an ass but I'm sure there are numerous threads about this already. You just unfortunately asked for this reaction.

And there are speed runs of Baldur's Gate out there, a game which many get just as many hours out of as any TES installment, that take no more than twenty minutes to complete. Speed runs are never a good indicator of content, as often they're being done by people who have played through the game so many damn times that they know all the shortcuts. When you also take into account the fact that they skipped dialogue - and even then probably only bothered with the dialogue that pertained to immediately moved the plot forward - and fast traveled everywhere, you see that it's not really that big of a deal.

So with the skipped dialogue and what not taken into account, what would your estimate for main quest time be on an hourly scale?

The estimates that most of the developers are throwing out are anywhere from 15-20 hours, on average. Some people might take less, others might take more. However from what I've been reading that does seem to be the median amount of time it takes to complete the main quest alone if you don't get skip happy.

I am unikely to ever finish this game on Adept difficulty. Been playing for two months on a nearly daily basis (several hours every session) and still level 32....
I'm about to drop the difficulty or start cheating. Not been into Bethesda games before, they're not exactly user-friendly and intuitive to get into....

Without the UESP Wiki (who does all that work??) I would have ditched this game a while ago, it's far too cryptic and self-indulgent to be fun once you get over how amazing it LOOKS.

I completed Mass Effect 2 in a few days and had no trouble with it, since the fighting was actually something you could get skilled with, rather than a result of damage multipliers and resistance calculations....

I'm like about 113 hrs in the game, and I feel I've only explored 50% of Kyrim. MQ-wise, I've just finished "Balde in the Dark"

I'm suprised it takes them that long, frankly. The only long dungeons I can think of on the main quest are the golden claw dungeon, the one where the horn is supposed to be, the dwemer one with the elder scroll, and the last one where you look for the portal to sovngarde, everything else is just go here, talk to this guy, fight this dragon or that one. Doesn't take that long.

Ok so after reading a similar thread to this I have timed myself playing through the main quest, here is the details:

I played a simple 2 handed Warrior
I stopped the time every time I entered the skills menu on level up (but thats the only time i stopped the watch) as I could take ages deciding between which perk to go with.)

and it took me 22hours 17 mins (and if you want secs - :03)

Now I think Im an average player, I spend 5 hours a week at most playing games (due to being 35 and having 3 kids that hog every electrical device in the house including the PC and consoles)

Do a google search for "Skyrim Speed Run" and you'll come up with a video of a guy that does it in 2:45. He makes some pretty obvious mistakes though, lots of places he could have shaved off a bunch of time. I could easily see all that addiing up to a half hour of missed opportunities. The whole game, he only fights things that absolutely have to die, he just runs past everything else.

I wouldn't even attempt it because of luck factors; if I'm not fully prepared to deal with situations it'll definitely add more time.
Plus, no one would really care.
