you should think if you command every guild that there should be any benefits to doing so... but some of them treat me like a newby initiate... why is that?
actually it should grant me some benefits e.g. help with related quests or other choices to complete, a weekly or monthly share of income (through jobs my gmates do) and why can i not assign them to do jobs? every guildleader before me ordered me around...

It's possible to become head of the college without using a single spell. Even in the few occasions in which it's compulsory to use a spell, shouts (flame/frost) do the work. Spellbreaker works as a ward and there you have it...

The guild quests are the worst thing about this game. My only complaint besides the bugs on the PS3.

Yea I know. Its cheesy IMO. I don't like how I suddenly became master of the guild after every guild quest line.

That's how 90% of all rpg games are. Ive done like 500 quests for the guild about time they made me leader.
