I liked the Dead Money group better as characters than companions, but I liked the Honest Hearts group better as companions than characters.
Cept Joshua Graham. He was awesome, but needed way more screen time than he got. He was such an interesting character, but his spotlight was over in such a brief period.
With the Dead Money group, so much emphasis is put on recruiting them, working with them, dealing with them. They each had their own ways about things, and own reasons to hate Elijah so you can all work together to kill him, or, try to kill each other. Christine was the closest to a love interest in New Vegas IMO ((Well, you can have six with other girls, but it's usually not about love.)), but she also has a lot of regret and hatred to her, that can come out depending on how you deal with her. Dean wants to be superior to all, and those who are above him, he wants to kill. Sinclair, Elijah, the Courier, if they're better than him, he wants them dead. That was what he was about in depth. Dog/God were about control and hunger, as clearly stated in the DLC itself.
My point is, the Dead Money characters are written so well. Follows Chalk had some depth to him, but it was a fleeting idea. I barely even remember Walking Cloud's name. I had to look up on previous posts to remember it. And Joshua Graham was a good character, but too absent from things that were important to really matter. I would have liked to see him in the main game instead.
