Best assassin build?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:02 am

I already have a Khajiit assassin, he's around level 16 right now. I've raised the correct skills like archery, sneak, one-handed etc. But I'm afraid that I might break the game horribly. I don't want to do that, I want to know a build that's really good, so that I can have some easy fun with the game, and at the same time not a game-breaking build. Please you guys suggest me a build.

I have a thief/assasin character right now who uses one dagger, an Illusion spell ( Fury ) and and is big into Alchemy. If the need arises I use a bow but only with Iron Arrows. And giving a thief/assasin character a purpose also makes it way more interesting. As for mine she is trying to find an answer for immortality at whatever cost. :)

I actually like how I can one-hit kill anything in Skyrim. Makes me feel like I'm an actual fearsome assassin. I tend to not invest a lot into multipliers. Like for example, the sneak multiplier.I only spend around 2 or 3 points on multiplier perks just to make the game a tad bit easier, but I don't invest on them too much.

Haha, for me I like to make my character as fearsome as they come. :D

What are you afraid of breaking? I've got my level 47 Ranger, much like your skills, he has Archery and Sneak maxed out, and One Handed is on its way too. There's nothing game breaking about the build. It's simply a great build to choose, and many players have focused on such for this game, since it seems more fitting apparently, remember reading it somewhere.

Right now, I've completed the Archery Skill Tree, and the Sneak Skill Tree too, one handed came at a later date for me, since Archery was my main focus.

I'm using a Daedric Bow with the Fiery Soul Trap enchantment, and an Elven Dagger with Frost Damage as my one handed weapon when I fancy getting closer to enemies and taking them out silently, works wonders if you go undetected.

So I have made a fair amount of assassin builds and I'll post my most recent one, and I would say my fav so far.

Race: Dunmer
Name: Dimaga
Main Skills:
Archery, One handed, Illusion and Alteration.
Secondary Skills:
Light armor, restoration

So the reason I like this build is that its pretty versatile, I play it on Master difficulty so it is challenging as well. So I snipe enemies from afar or sneak up and cut their throats. I use detect life to make sure I don't get surprised and Illusion for quiet casting, invisibility and fury spells. Another awesome and fun spell with this build is paralyze. So if I get detected I can paralyze, and turn invisible, reappear behind them for the kill.

Early levels are pretty tedious leveling alteration to 50 for detect life, but it is worth it. (check out http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Alteration_%28Skyrim%29 if interested in how to level it)

So ya its a fun build because you have options. You aren't super one dimensional like only sniping, or cutting throats, you can use illusion to chew down big groups and paralyze for the advantage in one on one open confrontations. And if you get in real trouble, turn invisible and try again.

I also made a build similar to http://www.gamesas.com/user/792871-peppermintosis/'s build. Alchemy is awesome because it can do a lot of different things, like paralyze, invisibility and of course poisons so that's a good option as well.

Hope this helps!

Anything with a fully perked Sneak and Alchemy. I also put some perks onto smithing cause I tend to mix heavy boots/gauntlets with light armor, so to avoid spend lots of perks on heavy/light armor, just go for an armor improvement. Mix these with enchanting and game gets boring very soon..

I think you might've missed the whole point of this thread.

Im not sure why... but if you think alchemy is gamebreaking just leave it, personally alchemy is my favorite skill so I can't imagine any character, from mage vampires to orcish tanks without it. Also youve done right raising your favorites combat style skills so Id just add these to some juicy skill(enchanting, smithing or alchemy) and go. If by gamebreaking you mean one hitting everything with a dagger, even on plain sight, then take a more direct approach and go hand to hand after the first strike. You'll need healing potions too, thats the reason Ive mentioned alchemy but buying potins from shops is just as viable as brewing them. At some point any build will be gamebreaking since the leveling system for NPCs hardly goes beyond 40, so anything is funny until you reach that and/or master your main skills.

If you don't want to break the game then spread your perks around. I'm not going to bother with detect life because it means that you do get rumbled from time to time and the ensuing fights are always interesting... Flame cloak, highborn, equip sword and shield/fast heal and away we go :D
