Best lighting mod(s)?

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 10:03 am

Would really like something that gets rid of the obnoxious bloomy look in some interiors. It's most noticeable in Solitude houses and is kind of hard to stand. I pretty much could never use the Solitude house due to it. Any hit to performance is of minor concern, my rig is pretty decent I've got a radeon 6950 2gb w/I5 2500k and 8gb ram.

Perhaps http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1329199-relz-realistic-lighting-without-post-processing/ is what you are looking for

From the screens it looks a bit too dramatic. It's like the atmosphere of a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game, which is nice and Shadow of Chernobyl is one of my favorite games, but I feel like it's too dreary for Skyrim.

What the hell though, I'll give it a chance in game.

Hmm, I'm guessing it's not something that can be fixed with a lighting mod. This gets rid of the bloomy effect but the areas where it was a problem are still absurdly bright. It's mainly the light coming through interior windows.

Maybe you should try http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=648, check the optional download - the darker interiors has the latest notint.esp you want anyhow.

I use this along with only the brighter lights pluging from the realistic lighting mod linked above.

For me, no tint is better than any ENB / post process mod I've tried.

This one is good, and comes the closest without changing other things way too much, but interior lighting is still way off in Solitude. I'm pretty certain it's just the nature of the lights placed there, they are too bright and they light things weird no matter what lighting mod I try. It's like they've got a small area they fill with intense white light, and then beyond that area cease to affect thngs. I'm guessing the CS is needed to really fix the game's lighting, kind of like Real Lights did for Oblivion.

I now what you mean, the removal of ambient light makes for brightness next to darkness. Although I quiet like that look in Solitude.

As with most these things, we're waiting on the CK

Many of the interior lights really need to be replaced/adjusted when the CK is released. I agree the windows in many Solitude buildings look utterly ridiculous. There are also many interiors where you see thigns like yellow lights casting blue light. Yuck. Fixing these things on a large scale would be a project big enough for a dedicated team.

From what you've said, I don't know if you want to go the ENB route, but it's extremely configurable, including day & night point light source intensity, moon & sun intensity, window intensity, and you can disable bloom, sso, etc. entirely if you want.

One that tries to be realistic is Confident ENB: http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5253&navtag=file/images.php?id=5253&tab=3
Another good one is Enhanced Shaders: http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=822

...but you'll have to spend time configuring the enbseries.ini, and possibly the shader files as well if you want to get exactly what you're looking for.

I'm quite liking the Tech ENBSeries preset (after bumping up the daytime lighting significantly and lowering screen brightness): http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5339

Gives a much more "medieval" feel, especially Solitude, which no longer looks like "Fallout 4".

Tried the Confident one, days are too bright for me. More realistic maybe but not good for people who play in dark rooms. D:

Tech one looks cool from the screens, but too far from the original game for me just yet. Trying Yadda's ENB Config next I think.

These lights are real problem, they are far from good. Some places looks like washed out with too bright lights, like Solitude, and makes sometimes feel more dusty post-apocalypse world than somewhat medieval Skyrim.

I think problem is that big that it needs CK to get fixed well.
