Best ps3 storyline

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 7:24 am

I am looking to find a good ps3 game storyline. Don't suggest the following as I have them:

Skyrim
Oblivion
White knight chronicles
FFXIII
Infamous
Infamous 2
Prototype

I'd prefer an exclusive game but it doesn't have to be.

Metal Gear Solid 4. You have to play the whole series to even begin to understand it though.

Valkyria Chronicles
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots*
Catherine**
Nier
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

*Assuming you've played the previous games.
**Definitely look into this a bit before rushing out to buy. It's certainly not for everyone.

Not a bad time to start, what with the HD collection having just been released. It doesn't include the original Metal Gear Solid though, so you'd have to grab the PSone Classic off the PSN for $10.

Here we go.

Uncharted 2.
Uncharted 3.

I'm surprised as a Ps3 owner you do not have them.

Heavy Rain
Uncharted series (first one isn't nearly as good as two and three)

Heavy rain seems intriguing. I think I might get it.

Good story? Exclusive? Heavy Rain is easily number one in these categories.

If you prefer an action/platformer to more of an interactive story (Heavy Rain), then give the Uncharted series a look...if you only have the option for one or two, skip the first.

I highly recommend it, I don't think you will regret it. It's by far one of my favorite PS3 games, I personally thought it had a fantastic story.

I've gotten about an hour into it and it is like nothing I have ever played before. I'll pick it up again when I have time (most likely next summer :( )

Resistance has a good storyline as well.

I actually would say resistance has the best storyline when it comes to "Alien" infestation.Only other contender is Gears, but that has no place against Resistance.

It's a very unique game, but it also takes a while to get started. It's definitely one I'd recommend playing in large chunks, as opposed to just a little here and there. I know what you mean about not having free time, especially now that I have finals to deal with in a week :P.

Ico + Shadow of the Colossus pack. I'm not too familiar with the story of the former, but the latter is very good. The minimalistic narrative provides just enough to let you see things as they are while leaving you a lot of room to put your own spin on things. And the ending is especially poignant.

Demon's Souls. I know, I know, Dark Souls is out, but I'm unfamiliar with that and, hey, the OP wanted exclusives. I honestly expected this to just have an excuse plot meant to weakly justify the tromping-around-killing-and-being-killed thing. Boy, how wrong I was. It borrows a lot of pages from SotC's brand of storytelling, using a lot of minimalism, fantastically-designed environments, and the game mechanics itself to get its points across. It hints and implies a lot of things about its world, but leaves everything open enough to let you put your own interpretation on things. That is, assuming you can handle the difficulty.

I probably couldn't handle the difficulty.

Heavy Rain is one of those games where you either love it or hate it. If you love a good story and don't mind the whole button-timed cutscene style, then you'll love it. If you dislike the button-timed cutscene style of gameplay, you'll hate the game.

Even if you love the game, the only really bad part about it is that once you play it through a certain way, you'll never want to play it through a differently.

I'll second the Heavy Rain praise.

I don't own a PS3 (I'm a 360 lad really ;) ) but I was actually considering getting a cheap PS3 just for that game (and any MGS that may come out in the future). An excellent story

Metal Gear Solid 4. Must play 1-3 first.
Red Dead Redemption.
Uncharted Series.
Mirror's Edge isn't bad.
F.E.A.R.
Far Cry 2 is okay.

Heavy Rain is pure story. It's like playing a movie.
