So using the instructions found http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1255299-skyrim-ramdisk-step-by-step-instructions/page__hl__ramdisk I placed every bsa of the vanilla (unmodded) skyrim game except textures.bsa onto a virtual RamDisk. I already noticed a dramatic decrease in loading times, and am loving it so far. But I want faster!
My ram disk is 4 gbs in size. I have 12 gbs of ram total, which gives me an option to choose from. Would I be better off purchacing the full version of the program used to create the ram disk, then creating a 8gb ram disk and copying some more of the files I use onto it? With my textures and all the mods, my skyrim data folder is about 25.5 gb, so I obviously could not place all of the files onto it. If this is the better option, which files would I be better off moving? My other option is to buy an external SSD harddrive then move my entire skyrim folder onto that. The labtop I play on has usb 3.0 technology, so the ports are not an issue. This is the method I'd prefer, but I want to be sure that this will give me a bigger increase in performance and a decrease in load times before I spend money on one of these.
Thanks for the help! I would like to get a skyrim as seamless as possible, with very short load screens between my epic battles!
You guys know what I'm talking about.
I came into this thread thinking I'd get to vote on the best performance by a voice actor or something.
