Best type of character for hardcoe?

So I recently finished my 1st play through and started an Explosives/ Unarmed Beserker named Brick. I read up that this may not be the best choice for hardcoe? If not then what would be the best build for hardcoe?

Not really.

Best would be Unarned. Level a little bit after Vegas rush, gather some gear for Red Ruby Mine.

Now you a human size Deathclaw

Going unarmed+melee seems like the best idea here. You don't worry about ammo and its weight, you typically have 10 STR and very high END (8 or so) increasing your carry weight and general chances of survival and you're damn fast at the same time.

Energy wouldn't be bad either though, you sell all the guns ammo and whatever energy ammo you've picked up you can convert to whatever you're using, typically MFCs.

I have yet to play through once but I guess it will depend on your style of play and when (if ever) you go into the main quest line. You should probably do the Act 1 quests to get you some levels. Then skip the Act 2 until you are very high in level.

Very high Speech - you will be able to talk your away out of some stuff. I am in mid-teens level wise and my speech is 100.
Very high Science - ability to hack everything should give you an edge on some missions in avoiding fights.

Get the Military Rifle early and stick with it.
Go with SMG or Laser RCW, you need some quick firing weapon to hose the area down.

Companions: Lily - she can fight.
