Best way to dual wield?

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 1:51 am

Just wondering if anyone knows the best way to go about dual wielding, whether to attack with each weapon separately or using the non-powered M1+M2 attack. I've been noticing in my games that when I do the M1+M2 that it is taking the same health off opponents as swinging each singly, at least when I have the same 2 types of weapons in each hand. When I switch to wielding two different types(sword/mace mace/axe axe/mace etc) it seems to do much much more damage than if I am using the same type, like they are both actually counting. Anyone have this problem as well? Any help on either question would be appreciated!

Supposedly you won't get a cut scene for finishing with a dual power attack. As for you question. It really depends on the situation, how many targets, is target moving, how much stamina do you have currently. Also a few +25% or higher one handed damage enchanted is great. And I always carry a +30% oh damage pot for stronger enemies.

I like an axe or sword in the right for quicker swings and a mace in the left fer hittin hard.

Assuming you took all the standard perks, chaining standing power attacks produces maximum damage while dual wielding.

I can't comment on you doing more damage with different types of weapon in each hand. From a perk perspective, that's inefficient because you're either not benefiting from a weapon-specific perk in one hand, or you've wasted 3 points in more than one weapon-specific perk.

I dual-wield with a dagger in my left and a sword in my right, like Artemis Entreri. My left handed dagger strikes are great for quick jabs to chip away enemies health, followed by a power attack from my sword to stagger them. If their health is low enough, I finish them off with a dual power attack. If not, repeat dagger jabs and power sword.

At least that's how I roll...

The reference to Artemis Entreri made me laugh. I was thinking about going with two scimitars to be like Drizzt Do'Urden but they don't do enough damage. On topic I use two swords b/c it allows you to attack really fast. I can get in more attacks with two swords than a sword and another weapon.

I use combinations of daggers, swords, Bound Swords, and Illusion spells with my Dunmer Mage-Assassin. If I'm trying to be stealthy, I'll put a dagger in the right hand and either a sword or a Calm spell in the other. That way, I can either finish them quick with the sword if they don't die or they discover me or Calm them and try again while their mesmerized. With the dagger in the right hand, I can also perform those cool assassination kills too.

In a straight up fight vs 1 enemy or a dragon in melee, I'll conjure two bound swords and wade into battle, I may use an enchanted weapon if it's weak to that enchantment as well but I prefer to use Bound Blades for RP (If there were bound daggers I'd hardly even use normal weapons).

In a group fight, I'll keep Frenzy or Fear spells in the left hand and either a dagger or my Bound Blade in the right depending on whether I can get up there to sneak attack unnoticed. If I do get noticed (and I've likely buffed with an Alteration shield spell before a group fight like this), I'll switch to dual-Bound Blades and then switch to Calm or Fear if I get too injured and need some time to recover.

I use M1+M2 power attack and right after I press M1+M2. It makes a combo with a power attack + normal attack. That is enough to kill a dragon with half health. Dual wielding, if you do it right, is really overpowered and it's the best thing you can do. xD
