best way for encumberence to work....

rather than having one speed up until your glued to the floor or walking slow...

you should gradually get slower the more you carry.

Have to agree with Martyr, why should the game punish you for carrying what is considered "within your carrying capacity"?

If anything, if they want to make it realistic and practical, you should start to slow down slowly past the maximum carry capacity.

I like the slow walk. If they wanted to improve it in ANY way at all I'd say make the character bend over in the strain and huff and puff. But we don't have backpacks so it'd just look like our guy was about to hurl I guess. Scratch that idea.

I think encumbarance is fine as it is - the slow walking. Although I would add a certain limit after the max carryweight, surpassing which would result in being unable to move. Say 50 "units" over the max carryweight, or so.

I think he was being sarcastic.

Also, who the hell cares since you'll be able to fast travel back to your stash spot while encumbered if you pick the right setup.

I'd like for there to be backpacks, and once you're full, yeah you're full you cannot carry anymore.

If I had to cary 40 suits of T51b's I don't think I would be able to even walk, let alone stand.

I don't seek realism. Just more interesting gameplay.

The way I see it, certain (non-selfimposed) limitations, "realistic" or not, only add to the gameplay experience.
But glad you agree, at least up to the point you did.

well to make it realistic, you should only be able to carry x amount of t time before you start to struggle, and can't walk any further, and the higher over your capacity you can carry, the shorter distance you can go slower, before muscle damage and bodily harm occurs. also you would only able to go so far before you collapsed from exhaustion and died. but that's realism for ya! i agree with martyr on this one, although i do want to try a reality simulation one day
