Best/Worst Voiced Video Game Characters?

Post » Wed Sep 14, 2011 6:40 am

Who are some characters that you think had the best voice actors? Who are some that you think had the worst?

I gotta say G-Man from the Half Life series is one of the best. The weird inflections and audible inhales are top notch.

One of the worst, which is mostly due to script writing, is Dante from Devil May Cry 3. Corny lines and terrible delivery.

Pretty much every character in Deus Ex had horrible voice acting. :yuck:

Solid Snake has the best voice I've ever heard in a game by far, I could listen to him talk all day.

Perhaps not the best, but I thought Jennifer Hale gave a great performance as Bastila in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. As for worst, it doesn't belong to just one character. The entire cast of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zygDzAkothQ can all share that honor.

Just go play the original Resident Evil from 1995 .

Or watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVyOCssIXgQ
Chuckles at 1:30

That's only scratching the surface. It's a very long game. Luckily you can turn the voice acting off entirely, so I think they knew the quality of their work. :P

Gotta disagree Dante was pretty good in DMC3 with his lines needing to be corny since he's "Cool". :P

Best voice actor is a tough choice and you might have to say male or female. For female I would say the person that voices Bayonetta in the game of the same name. Her lines were delivered perfectly and the way she made the character sensual and caring was spot on. Best male voice would probably be Kris Kristofferson in for his VO of the captain of the NRC in FONV. Loved his somber delivery during his speech before he offs himself at the very end. Had a beautiful flow to it creating a heart felt promotion before *BAM* *THUD* and "WTH JUST HAPPENED?".

Worst voice actor of all time would probably be the main bad guy in Armored Core 2. His lines were good but it just sounded like he tried to force his voice being some British evil guy. As for the worst female voice that would probably go to the female owner of Datadyne on the Perfect Dark N64 console. Really found her voice over grating and not at all a good fit.

It's not the worst I could find (first thought was Resident Evil) but I decided to go with games that I played a lot and having to sit through "Yeah! Woohoo! Alright!" all the time from a character who looks badass (white hair = awesome) was distracting haha.

I found that through related links. It's...unbearable.

Worst: Deus Ex NPCs in Hong Kong. I'd say those were terrible fake chinese-english accents, but apparently those were actually voiced by chinese people!

Best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hk0sOGVSAP4 in Baldur's Gate 2.

Guybrush Threepwood from Monkey Island was pretty good. I believe they had the same voice actor for him in MI 3, Tales, and the 1&2 remakes?

Simon Templeman, in literally anything he does. Either hamming it up as Kain or Loghain or being more subdued as Dr. Archer in Overlord, he's just amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAds4kH7QDE

Glados of course, by far the best for me. I heard the robot voiced by Stephen Merchant in 2 is aweome too, ah well looking forward to finally playing it soon.

Any Altmer (except Mankar)in Oblivion had ridiculously bad voice acting in my opinion. Mannimarco, King of Worms, most feared necromancer ever and...

AHA??!

Gordan Freeman.... jkjk.

Wheatley from Portal 2 was brilliant.
Everyone from Sonic Adventure was just... horrible, not the fact they are talking, I tolerate that, the fact they all sound 5 years old and urgh...

I hated Liam Neeson in Fallout 3, then again I don't really like him all that much anyways.

I'm loving all of these links, bad voice acting makes for a good laugh.

It had the worst voice acting if you took it seriously. It had the best voice acting if you pretended it was all a joke.

Best voice actor for me is Gabe Logan in the first three Syphon Filter games. His voice sounds awesome!

Anybody from Just Cause 2.

Don't know about worst as their is alot of it out there.

As for good however I loved whoever it was that voiced John Marston in RDR. In fact all rockstar games have great voice acting Disclaimer: All the ones that I have played

Patrick Stewert in Oblivion could have been good...... if he was alive long enough to actually have enough good dialogue :brokencomputer:

Some of the old Lucasarts adventure games had some amazing voice acting, my personal favorite being Full Throttle. "I'm not puttin' my lips on that."
