Bethesda any chance we can get better support for 4,6,8 core

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 4:19 am

Now that we have LAA would it be possible to get better optimization for CPU's with more than 2 cores? Also a good 64bit EXE would be much appreciated also.

64-bit won't happen. Better multi-core might happen with the first DLC if Beth feels apologetic about signing an unethical and anti-competitive contract.

I have a quad core i7, and I'm fine with current performance TBH.

I wish. Running an 8-core, and (for this game anyway) it's a complete waste.

If all you care about is running Skyrim well, you're better off with a screamer of a dual core. Sad, really.

not sure how this game works.
but if its like other games, its basically using 2 cores, and leaving the other 2 twiddling their thumbs for the most part.

I have a dual quad core. I would appreciate it if I could use it. 4 or 6 cores will have to suffice, if they're even going that far.
Is a Radeon 6370M 1GB graphics card too small? I always have a slight delay when I'm looking around or aiming.

So this game isn't using my computer to its potential?
I was wondering why running the game on the auto-detect settings was slow.
I had to turn all the settings down quite a bit to get 20-30fps.

If i underclock corse 3 and 4, this will allow me to over clock cores 1 and 2 even further? and since the game only uses to cores I should get better performance?

its only gonna use duel-core processing, and no its not even coming close to using pcs to thier potential. Sadly they toned it down to make console resemble the pc version.....wait sorry i forgot his made for consoles first then ported to pc. Its a great game, love it, BUT if thye had made it for pc first then ported it to consoles like they use to in the past.......this game would be a joke graphics and ui wise to what it CAN or COULDA been. Theres alot fo potential in this game WASTED, but it is what it is and since they made a crapload of money off this game, i have a feeling it will always be a console port and we have to go to mods to get this game looking and acting how it should on pc. love the game cant put it down but evenso playing it i see sooo much of what coulda been doen better if they wasnt trying to make it more console friendly than pc. again if thye would do pc first then change it around and make it better for console or hell do that in first place before they launch..omg, sadly dont think we'll ever see that happen ever again. well off to play skyrim.

Sure, let Bethesda rewrite the entire game just so you can take advantage of your ridicuous purchase.

Just because you're fine with sub-par performance does not mean that Bethesda's complete and total lack of optimization on quad and higher core CPU's should go ignored.

We can just hope. With better optimization the framerates would increase significantly, especially on slow multi-core CPUs. Now it's just the speed of the cores that matters, not their amount.

It isn't ridiculous anymore. Most new games use 4 cores (or at least benefit from it as background programs can use the cores not used by the game).

It's especially painful after Bethesda put quad-core in the "recommended settings".

@ActionHitman
Actually, there are very few games that put more than two cores into use.

Xbox 360 has three cores.

PS3 has Cell.

I guess everyone made a ridiculous purchase, then.

PS3 has Cell.

And yet the PC version hardly uses more than two.

Isn't software engineering grand?

Indeed. :brokencomputer:

I can understand the PS3, it takes a lot of work to get the most out of Cell.

But really, if the Xbox 360 version is only using two of those three cores....

Hardly any PC games actually make use of more than 2 cores.

Meaning hyper-threading is useless then? I should just disable it.

Even if the game isn't making use of the cores/threads, the OS is. Lower overall usage helps to increase the lifespan of the CPU. Four cores at 50% (and eight at 25%) is healthier than two cores at 100%.

What?
X-box has a 30 day exclusive on the DLC again. I don't know where he gets "Unethical" and "anti-competitive"; the other platforms still get everything the X-box does. MS just paid to get it first.
