Bethesda game bugs and waiting to purchase

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:21 pm

I'm pretty frustrated here with Bethesda. It seems like EVERY time I've purchased a new release title from them (starting with Morrowind on the original Xbox), they have come with major gaming glitches that severely impact gameplay. I've read a lot of the issues with Fallout: NV and am startled that there are that many in the game.

In any case, I know this will be the last time that I purchase a game from them on release day (or very close to it) and will be purchasing it from the used section at the game store. It's been accepted as status quo from Bethesda that it's ok to release games with major glitches because the consumer hasn't stopped buying their games at release time.

How many others out there thinking about doing the same?

Bethesda own publishing rights and ultimately decide when the game gets released. They are the ones who decided to let this game go on sale in an unfinished state.
In the run up to the games release Bethesda were talking about the game a lot.....meaning they clearly had a watchful eye on its development process.
Really cant fault Obsidian here. I doubt there is any devloper that could have done any better in the very strict time they were given.

I can definitely fault Obsidian.. because I'm pretty sure Feargus knows he and lil motley crew screw up every franchise they touch and that they should probably disband before they completely destroy every viable and loved title in the land, but yes Rubix is right. Bethesda let this travesty be born.

When are people going to realise that it was Bethesda who released this game in this state?

Bethesda hired/contracted Obsidian to make the game and then Bethesda deemed it of sufficent quality to release to the gaming public svckers.

Yes, Obsidian have a track record of releasing mostly buggy, badly programmed games but they did'nt release this game, Bethesda did and so they are wholly 100% at fault.
Either by not sufficiently testing the build that Obsidian submitted to them or for hiring them in the first place.
Or, more probably, not letting Obsidian finish the game because Bethesda wanted it releasing before Xmas (a target that Obsidian clearly could'nt hit).
