Better Water Mod

Post » Wed May 23, 2012 5:33 am

Im looking to see if there are some new upcoming realistic water mods, looks like RWT is no longer supported by the original creator and Pure Water has been hidden for 3 days so i was looking to see if there are any new ones out like these.

RWT is still the best. What's wrong with who's running it now?

Neither mods are good enough. I'm not dissing either mod, the creators have done very good work, but the water is still awful. It's just a flat plane. We need a new water system, like the amazing one in the Morrowind overhaul.

It's the second-most annoying thing about Skyrim's visuals (first being the lack of shadows on grass).

OpticShooter (SP) may do an amazing job with it we don't know yet, im just looking to see whats new since the CK is out. The reason i asked was last i read there was an issue with RWT and how the original waterfalls were deleted resulting in all the deleted ones being droped into the center of the world and i wasn't sure if this issue was fixed and now i see someone has token over the mod so it could be a while before his version is out.

I honestly don't see how you can do much more with RWT other than fixes and small improvements because I think its perfect as it. It looks great and there's really no need for any other mod IMO.

Pure Water also did an amazing job on water in Skyrim and i actually left RWT for PW but it has been hidden for days, and as for RWT im still unsure if the waterfall issues were fixed.

I disagree. You're actually comparing this

to this?

It's blatantly clear that water in Skyrim needs a big improvement when modded Morrowind looks better.

Well your definition of better might be different to others, the Skyrim water certainly looks more realistic in those shots. Don't get me wrong, the Morrowind shot looks beautiful, something I would want to dive in to, but ponds of water in the wild dont look like that at all let alone rivers. It looks more like a crystal clear swimming pool. It would be nice to have the option of a more unrealistic, but visually "pretty" water though.

Should probably have used a Skyrim promotional shot, like you did for Morrowind, not a detail demo, that would have made it an actual comparison.

I just picked the first one I could find. Here's a better one:

(Not trying to defame the work of Realistic Water, it's the best water mod we have right now but it's nothing compared to modded Morrowind IMHO)

Personally I think that that Morrowind water looks more realistic, but you are right in a way. Remember that not much of Skyrim's graphics are realistic. Although the art style may not be as extravagant as, say, TF2, it still has a style to its graphics and not much of it could be considered realistic.

Personally prefer Pure Waters. Used to prefer RWT. I dunno, it changes I guess. They're both pretty good. What I'd love to see is the flowing water shader from the Keynote thingy.
